Thank you for this wonderful zipper flap tutorial. I actually used the flap as a decorative statement making it the front of the pillow. I had a 16 x 24 pillow form. I divided it into 3rds. Short panel was cut 9 x 16 and the larger 16 x 16. I don't add extra fabric (seam allowances) to the pillow form dimension. I like it firm and filled in. I cut the back side at 16 x 24 and tapered the corners so it wouldn't have dog ears. Didn't do the binding just sewed it together with right sides. I use white on the small 1/3 and black on the 2/3, the a beautiful sky blue for the flap. It really came out nice. I love this zipper flap. I'll be using this method a lot in the future. Thanks!

@quiltinglife this was exactly what I was looking for! It solved 2 things, a dilemma I had, & one ididnt know I was gonna have until I watched ur video. I may still put batting on my pillow but I still like how u did urs very much. I also might try adding pipping to mine but don't know yet. & don't forget if u have time, to update ur video abt the 8.20 mark where u say "wrong side together" when attaching the other side of the zipper, you should have said, "attach the right sides together'

I always like to place a 3 inch width of fine interfacing ( P44F fusable ) at the end of both piece of fabric where the zipper will be sewn if the fabric is a cotton that is not quilted . This gives stability where the zipper will be sewn . The number 5 zippers are wonderful but they can cause some waviness in a thinner fabric .

I've made dozens of pillows...most all of them with envelope backs because I had a FEAR of using a zipper. Your video was so well done...so simply taught that I can hardly wait to try your technique. I think I'll go out to my studio and make a pillow today from an orphan block with a ZIPPER BACK! Yay! I don't have any Annie's zippers but I will be ordering some and I hope you are a partner with them to reap some small benefit. Thank you so much!

Thank You for making and sharing the excellent information on how to put a zipper in a pillow back, online, for everyone to use. It was so useful to me and I learned a lot. I made a pillow back like this for the fall wool appliqué pillow that I made. This procedure made my pillow look so nice and now I can change my pillow covers with the seasons, but use the same pillow form. I am so happy with my finished pillow and I just want to thank you for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge and skills with others. I do appreciate it very much. Your videos and quilting instructions are clear, well done and easy to understand. I will be making my pillows like this for now on. 🧵 Happy Sewing! 🧵
