I’m happy you do the traditional method. I taught the seniors to make these when they are waiting at the doctors office and their rides to pick them up. Everything they need in a small ziplock bag to take anywhere. Thank you for showing this without glue.

I tried English paper piecing it once several years ago and did not like it. But I am in love with your quilt. I think I really want to try it again. I would love to see you attach a flower to the background! I’ve also really been enjoying your podcast with Chelsie. They’re really laid-back and easy to listen to, very informative, and it’s just like listening to two of my friends chitchatting about quilting.

I agree with Ginger. I have the pattern which is very difficult to follow without diagrams and a picture of the whole quilt. That would be very helpful, Thanks for the tutorial about piecing the hexis.

I am using another method for making the hexagons and this way I eliminate using the plastic templates and paper. My hexagons are 2 and 1/4" finished so I cut a 5" circle of my fabric, bring needle in center of circle (r to w), catch approx 1/8 bite of edge os circle and bring st to center, finger press the fold at top, pierce point at end of that fold and bring needle with fabric back down to center and tack with couple sts..repeat this method until you have a PERFECT HEXAGON. Thanks for receiving my method. Janet K from NC

Hi Sherri - I love this quilt block and quilt. I’ve watched many tutorials on paper piecing and your way is the best way that I have seen. To me, it is so much simpler than a lot of others. I want to make this using Seashore Drive fabric. Prettiest fabric I have ever seen seriously!!! I’ve never made an actual quilt but I love this block and I love the new fabric. I want to make a small quilt to start with. I would love to see how you add the block to the background fabric. Gonna start playing making some hexis with scraps I have now just to learn how to do it. I love all the fabric collections that you and Chelsi have designed. Will be ordering some of the Balboa and Happy Days to play with until Seashore Drive is available. Got to get my pattern ordered from your site. Thank you for sharing how you create these blocks.

Punch holes the papers before you piece them then you can take them out easier with a small scissor! Also when you punch hole , you can put a little pin in the fabric to hold it while you stitch the corners .

When you take out all paper pieces do you put any type backing on flower or do you apply directly to quilt. My quilt is already quilted and I want to apply he is flowers. Great explanation demo.

Ok now so that the flowers are finished how do you piece them onto your quilt? Do you machine sew on to the quilt or do you piece them by hand?

Sew if you enjoy it but the glue washes out, steam from ironing releases the glue from the paper. It’s much faster.

I purchased this pattern but I did not like this pattern. The instructions were scant, very little detail, no diagrams. There was not a picture of the whole quilt for me to see which would have helped me put the quilt together. I had to use guesswork - not being mean, just honest
