A bonus of a machine with fancy stitches, is that I do a fancy zig zag stitch to attach the binding. It adds another design level as well

I’m not one to machine sew my bindings and will always hand sew them. So much neater looking. Thanks for the great tutorial.

I am a beginner Quilter (haven't sewn anything yet), but have watched a lot of Tutorials. I have seen some on QAYG, Postage Stamp, and tonight yours on Potholders. I want to start small, like a Mug Rug, and you gave an idea, instead of Mini Charm Packs, I am going to use 1 1/2" squares to make my Mug Rug. So hurry with that Binding Tutorial.

The extra tab is a good idea! I hang my oven mitts on cupboard door handles, but these would add color to my kitchen as well as showing off my quilting, lol!

Love this and can't wait to make some with my scraps. Thanks for the great tutorial.

When one teaches, one should teach every step, I'm also a newbie, you don't even have a sewing machine in sight, you should show how you sewed the squares together. You seriously need to be more professional. Pretty pot holders, but you need to sew, maybe redo the video

Sew glad you did this tutorial! I’ve seen y’all say you use mini charms and I’ve been wanting to try this.

I use my leftover jelly roll strips to make four potholders at a time. I have just gotten back to quilting since being ill and this is the perfect get back into quilting again.

I have single layer polar fleece blankets that I never cut off the selvage. Though I think we might prefer a "finished" product as we would give others, it works for us.

Such a great idea for very cheery potholders. I don't have any charm packs handy but I certainly have plenty of scraps to use in the scrap bag. Great idea! To be absolutely sure you have enough you could always make the backing fabric bigger than 12”.

I do Simply beading love making different things to wear.

I have made my first pot holder. It’s also my first experience with bias binding. I was wondering if you would make a video showing how to put bias binding on. I had trouble getting the binding to go around the rounded corners without bunching up and getting pleats. Also, I had trouble joining the tails because there is such a small space between the tails. Thank you so much. I have learned so much from your videos.

Yes, I leave the final side completely unsewn until I've joined the ends. I do it just like I do for a quilt with a diagonal seam.

Do you have to put batting on both sides of the insulbrite?

Hand stitching the binding is therapeutic to me.

Could I use a double piece of terry cloth instead of the batting and insulation? Would that be heat resistant enough? Thanks.

where do you find the pre cut squares ... going to make these .. new to sewing

Couldn’t you use the backing as the binding so you wouldn’t have to cut off the extra?

Do you put a loop on them...for hanging?

I watched numerous videos and people sewed the binding to the back and flipped it to front. I didn’t like that look. I’m still learning. The back of my potholder looked good. I was thinking why do people sew it that way. Then I ran across your video. You started in the front then flipped it to the back.

You can watch my binding tutorial part 2 for this. I do it the same way as when I put binding on a quilt. Just leave one side completely unsewn until the ends are joined with a diagonal seam :)

I was going to get some creative grids ruler for quilting, but noticed on video here that they do move easily. On website it says they are non-skid..???Are you still answering questions?

Will you make a tutorial on how you deem your two binding together when you come to the end of your potholder, and meet up w/ the other part of the binding. I can’t seem to make mine look nice.
