I decided to make a video about how to prune the Pineapple Broom because pruning Pineapple Broom can be very challenging, as this tree can really react badly if the pruning is not done correctly. As explained in the video, two years ago I had to prune this Pineapple Broom, Argyrocitisus battandieri (also sometimes known as Cytisus battandieri), one of my favourite fragrant trees, but the results were awful (as I am showing you in the video), so I decided to make a video about how to prune the Pineapple Broom, considering the errors I made the first time.
Please also note that I carried out the Pineapple Broom pruning today because there is no forecast of rain neither today nor in the next few days, and this is also important, as the freshly cut branches are like wounds inflicted to the tree, so the cuts need to dry up and heal in the driest possible climate. I addition to the importance of pruning the Pineapple Broom for shaping it, is actually important for the plant itself, as the branches tend to grow sparse and very long, therefore even if quite elastic, can be broken by strong winds, that where I live, is especially common in winter.
