I have this in my garden for many many years it’s beautiful, it’s now too top heavy and is leaning so far forward it’s toppling over, when where and how is the best time to chop this right back without killing it.

I have this cytisus. It's been planted about five years, is already 12ft tall and showing every intention of getting a lot taller. It's also extremely dense, putting on many new branches every summer which seems to be at the cost of the number of flowers, which are quite sparse this year compared to its first few years. It wants to put all is energy into new wood and leaf. I've pruned it after flowering in past seasons, because it's becoming somewhat unmanageable where it is positioned, but this only seems to encourage it..
