All I can say is go out and look. I live in New Jersey in the USA and my entire life I thought we have nothing but silica here... hell 2ithing half mile of my house there are like 6 sand holes. Well recently we started picking up clear "QUARTZ" only to start noticing differences in the way some polish and cut. After much testing and speculation because identification online is a nightmare with similarities and mislabeled stones we are confident a ton of the stones we are finding are topaz and sapphires. It blows my mind and I would love to get professional testing done but I can't simply afford it at the moment however my confidence in some of the stones is at an all time high. The topaz polishes cleaner and cuts cleaner. The quart and feldspar like to chip more and are a bit harder to get a clean shiny polish. The sapphire is super solid and when it touches a diamond wheel right after cutting quartz the quartz feels like cutting butter in comparison. If you don't mind where are you located. I might be able to give a list of gems to be on the look out for.

I can not wait for our flood season to let up. Me and my queen went into this river bed that was dried up and found lots of topaz and quart beds. Small one's but that's good enough too make some little jewelry or even placing them in plants as a drain base. I noticed the river banks are flushed with beautiful green plants during the grow seasons and I think a lot of the growth is due too the energy admitted by the crystal's. LG, life is good, especially when you and your love can go noodling for beautiful crystal's. Thank you guy's and much love too all of you in Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘.

I'm in Austin Texas and the state stone is blue topaz. I've spent several days out in the area where it is found and nothing but quarts, Micah, feldspar and pyrite. I'm not giving up until I find a nice piece of blue topaz. You make it look easy and just gave me the desire to go back out and Hunt some more. Thank you! :-)

Some of the clear quartz you have might actually be Topaz. Most Topaz in nature are colorless. Most blue topaz that you see in jewelry are actually colored or enhanced(radiated). Very rare to find a bright blue topaz naturally since most of them are light blue or baby blue as I prefer to call it. I cut a couple of topaz and set it as earrings for my daughter which she wore on her wedding day. I forgot that I made it and thought she was wearing a diamond earring. It sparkled like a diamond.

@@LizKreate you are correct, I have several pieces that I am certain are topaz but they look like they have freshly come out of the host Rock. Two small pieces but they have a different type of inclusions then the quartz I find around the same area. I know that the blue topaz will turn clear once it is exposed to sunlight. Hi Liz, it’s always great to see the notification come up that you have released another video. I watched this one within hours of the notification.and then again this morning. Very cool video with some great tips for us novices, (even grey haired ones). Those tips are great to keep in mind when out fossicking, it’s so easy to cover a lot of ground without results by not thinking of how gems and stones are deposited. I haven’t tried my hand for Topaz even though I have know Simon at O’Brians Creek through work some time ago. I can’t wait to get up there and catch up and try to find some of those great pieces that that area is known for. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Your going too fast. You missed and then buried 1 right at the beginning.

I actually think you don't know what your talking about! At the beginning you show us one topaz! Then nothing! With all your scratching, nothing! At the end a handful of topaz. A bit confusing really. So where EXACTLY did you find these topaz? A no go show!

No need to be hostile...I upload these videos so that I can share this wonderful hobby with others who appreciate the time and effort it took to do these videos. It seems that you only watch the first part and the last part of the video and have lost the context of what the video is all about. The title of this video is "How To Prospect For Topaz" and not "A Show and Tell of every piece of Topaz dug up." Cheers, Liz

@@LizKreate I'm glad you responded. It's an opportunity to apologize for my rudeness. I had a rubbish day! That's no excuse really. Again, so sorry. I actually enjoy your shows. Kind regards, Marie.
