How to program the garage door opener in your car HomeLink Toyota Ford Chevy Dodge Hyundai Jeep
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here are a few homelink parts available→ amzn.to/2wXsUJx
This works on many different brands. They all use the same HomeLink system. It can be difficult if yours has the same problem that this one in the video had. That is that the code the car recorded is not being transmitted the same as it was recorded.

This is one of the most useful DIY videos I've seen on KZread in recent times. Worked perfectly at the first attempt. Thanks so much.
This information was EXCELLENT. I spent a few hours trying to get my Sienna programmed before seeing this and nothing worked. I am an engineer and computer analyst and became very frustrated finding various bits of info in the owners manual, on the HOMELINK website and nothing worked. Thanks to this video showing how to hold the remote BEHIND the HomeLink array I was able to program it in 5 minutes.
My boyfriend and I tried everything we possibly could. We watched about a dozen videos and none of them would work. I finally came across this one and it did it for me. Thank you.
Perfect instructions!!! We programmed our 2 cars in no time. One is a 2013 Hyundai Tucson and the other is a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Thank you sooooo much.
Thank you so much! Been driving my Sequoia for 10 yrs and didn't know I could do this. I was actually trying to find a video to repair my sunglass holder when I found this video by accident. This made my day! ❤
I bought my Chevy Avalanche new in October 2004 and never got my HomeLink to work. I could never get past syncronizing the remote to the HomeLink as indicated in all the instructions, other KZread videos and working with HomeLink technical service. I followed your instructions regarding positioning the remote and for the first time in almost 13 years it works. Thank you.
Perfect instructions. I faced ALL the problems/scenarios, mentioned in this video so I had to follow it all the way but it worked. Thank you very much!! Just, like 'Rick Shelton', I had tried to program it twice, earlier but I couldn't make it work. Now, after 8 years of buying house and using the Garage Door Opener's own remote, I can finally use my 2004 Sienna's Home Link buttons to Open/Close the garage doors.
Great tutorial. I was never able to get one of my garage door openers to work with the Homelink System in my van until watching this video. Thanks
Had the exact problem with my new Highlander. Was extremely frustrated when we couldn't get the homelink to work. Your tip to place the remote behind the homelink was genius. Worked on the first try! Thank you sooo much!!
Worked on the first try following these steps! For context - I watched 10 other videos before this one and none of them worked. Thanks you!
After 3 hours of effort, it was about 10 minutes after watching your video that I got the thing working! Thank you!
Excellent video. I tried this on my 2004 Sienna when I bought it 10 years ago and couldn't make it work. Since my garage door remotes are wearing out, I was desperate to have this programed. Your clear explanation was very helpful. Also same procedure worked on my 2007 BMW too. Thanks again!
Finally, I followed the manual’s instructions to the letter but couldn’t get the Homelink to work. Your video tip did the trick! Now it works like a charm. Thank you.
Omg! I happen to stumble upon your video and I was in my car and did this I almost fell down the ladder to reach the garage box thing on top but it worked!!! Now I don’t need to buy a remote! I’m super stoked about this! Thank you!
I have the same Sienna you do and was so frustrated trying to get this to work. Following your instruction here and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much for posting!!!
Dude! Thank you so much! Spent weeks trying to figure this out. Would never had got it without this video. Thank you!
Thank you and thank KZread! Lifesavers!
Awesome ! I've had my truck since 03, and never had it programmed. I did have to do the "learn function" on the door motor itself. Working great! THANKS !
This video was perfect! You identified the problem I was having to program my HomeLink system in my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The trick was having the handheld remote placed IN FRONT of the console. Thanks for the help.
This worked perfectly! The code is tweaked just enought that after teaching homelink you need to re-learn the code on the door opener itself. Genius! Thanks a million!
You're the best. Toyota service guys wouldn't help, i've been struggling to set it up even though i have good experience with GD openers and couldn't make it work until your video was found. Thanks a million.
I just couldn't get it to work on my Sequoia. I found your video, followed your instructions to the T and problem solved and it works now! Thanks for sharing. the key is to hold down on the button in the car for 1 sec. it doesn't open the garage door immediately like a regular remote does
We have spent many hours trying to set up the home link system and this video was right on! Thank you!!!
Thank God you made this video. Nothing I did worked, but followed all your steps and finally got it!
You're awesome! I have tried and tried to program the Homelink in our vehicle and nothing. Held the remote behind the mirror just as you suggested and it worked right away! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
all the other videos were missing the garage opener step.It works now thanks
Thanks for the tip of pushing the "Learn " button. You saved me time and frustration! Just purchased a used 2006 Tundra and it worked perfectly. Great job!
absolutely best video ive seen on KZread. great job
Mine worked the first time i connected using the remote! I have a liftmaster 3280 and a toyota 4runner! Thank you so much!!! The first tutorial i saw online was using the learn button only--I was having a hard time connecting; your video is excellent! Keep it up!!! THANK YOU!!!!
BINGO! It works. Had to press the "Learn" button on the back of the garage door motor unit. Great video: Short, concise, and very helpful. Thank You!

Thank you so much! I was frustrated trying to set up my Honda Homelink. I just could not get it to work. Your tips really helped to get the job done!
Thank you so much for your information, I am so glad that there are people out there who can help us. I just used this process to program my 2015 Nissan Sentra it made my life so much easier. Thank you again.
Thanks! Just did my 06 Sequoia. Had to do it twice. 2nd time worked. Also had to put repeater remote behind homelink for it to work. Your direction s are the only ones that worked for me.
Thank you so much! You're my hero! I had so much trouble with it that my arms got too tired of pushing the buttons and then you rescued me lol!
This video was super helpful and that shortcoming of the sensor was what was preventing me from setting it up. Thanks a lot!
Didn't know how to make that work for the last eight yrs. Now it works on my Sienna. Thanks
Out of ALL the other videos ive watched this one best explained, thanks.
Thanks for the help! I had the remote pairing just fine, but I had no idea about the learn button. You are a life saver.
I've been meaning to do this for some yrs now, just watched your vid and did everything plus the learn button tip and was done in 2 mins! Thank you so much!
So helpful! Looked at multiple other videos that didn't help - yours did! Much appreciated
Thank you!! I had to move my garage door opener around to signal it, all the other videos didn't help at all! Appreciate it!
Your directions and their sequence is spot on. Nicely done.
I have been trying to get the homelink to work in my 2006 seinna for over a year. Glad you pointed out to put conto let in the rear to program. Finally took. Soo freaking happy
Perfect!!! 2014 BMW X1 28i xline I've had the car since 2017 .... This is the first proper instructions. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much, you will not believe how much time I spent before finding your video. Worked first time.
Thanks for this video! Tried programming my sequoia for an hour before finally succumbing to youtube for help. Got it done in less than 30 seconds after watching this.
Thank you! this is so much easier than reading the owner's manual of my new car. It works for our Subaru Legacy as well.
thank you, for those who watched this video, but still cannot figure it out, you just need try few more times. it worked on me on the second time, and the first step is very important: clearing all the previous signal settings.
Thank you so much, The trick holding it behind the hub was EXACTLY what I needed!!
That extra bit about having to go to the opener motor for the learn button was pure gold.
Thank you soooo much the information was excellent thank you again. I bought my Lexus 2month ago and have been asking my husband,my son , but none of them had time therefor, I googled it and just watched your video one time and it works.
This video is a life saver!! Thank you, I was about to lose my mind trying to make this work.
Worked perfectly. I did not get that from the instruction manual. Thanks loads for relieving my frustration.
Well presented video, all the potential problems covered with video illustration too - excellent. And the icing on the cake: Jeep GC in the garage! I had a 5.9 ZJ for 15 years that was the bee's knees...miss it terribly, but life moves on 😩
Thank you so much. Worked on this for more then an hour and putting the remote behind the buttons was the key. Thank again.
Thanks! Yes, the newer "Genie" Garage-Door-Opener-Units have rolling-code-remotes and require programming the Homelink in the car first, then setting the opener to learn mode and pressing the Homelink buttons in the car again, as you showed. My problem was finding the right place to hold the remote transmitter for the Homelink in the car to learn it. After that... it was a snap! Thanks again!
I tried the first method shown, didn’t work, got the same thing where it looked like the programming took, then tried the second method, and, just like in the video, it works perfectly now. Thanks for sharing!!!
After watching this video my day is a bit more awesome! I didn't have my remote close enough! I also didn't know how to reset the existing codes. Thank you! You tube rocks for the visual learners like myself.
I wonder how many hours of research and frustration you saved me by putting out his video? Thanks for your help!
I owe you big time! I spent hours trying to program my 2005 Toyota and didn't realize it was simply the fact the remote was not in right position.!
it worked it worked!! our lightbulb was loose on the main machine so we didn't think it would work, but it did ultimately work!! thanks so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I gave up linking my 2006 Sienna long ago, and your tutorial worked!
Thank you. Your trick about remote behind homelink saved my setup
Solid. Was getting pissed that I couldn't pair my two cars to my two new Genie 7055s, and this got me what I needed. Thanks!
is the ONLY procedure that actually works for me. I saw many other videos and read the manual and the trick of moving the control behind the dash is what help me. Thank you so much Sir. Like and subscribe.
I love you. I've had multiple life experiences. Flying jets etc. You saved my life.
TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! I WILL TRY THE LEARN BOTTON AS SOON AS I GET BACK HOME, BECAUSE MY SIENNA DID'T WANT TO PROGRAM BY PUSHING THE HOMELINK BOTTON AND REMOTE AT THE SAME TIME. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
Thanks you for showing this helpful this video! I did program to my Toyota Sienna 2006, work awesome !
You genius!!! Been trying to figure that out for two years!! Thank you.
You are awesome! Mine was having the exact same problem. The last part of your video solved the problem. On my 2000 jeep grand Cherokee. Thank you so much. I was loosing my mind. Thanks again 👍👍👍
Thank you so much this has literally took me 4 hours and after I found your video I got it done so fast
Worked perfectly for me! Had to go in and fuss with the garage opener itself just like you said.
The instructions worked perfectly on my 2002 Camry and a Chamberlain garage door opener. On the Camry positioning the remote inside the open sun-glass compartment achieved the same effect as in the video. It is worthwhile noting that the instruction manual for my Chrysler has the same instructions (I don't have the Toyota manual!). But the Chrysler instructions lacked, of course, the important part regarding positioning of the remote during the training period. The training of the garage door opener in the last step has something to do with how the rolling codes are implemented in the garage door opener.
Just programmed my Sienna with the help of this video. Works Great! Thank you.
Thanks, looked at several videos and yours really explained the procedure when stymied by the the false code
THANKS!!! I am so happy to finally know how to program this thing.
Thank you so very much. Was reading the manual and it didn’t work. Watched this and it worked first try.
Thanks a bunch. I have been crewing around for 45 minutes and could not figure it out... Thanks for the video. I got it working. Cheers

+Dean Birks Awesome! Glad to help.
Very helpful still 10 years later thank you brother
So I was having the same problem with trying to program the button to the remote. Your tip on holding the remote behind the button panel worked for me too. Thanks so much. (Just happen also to have a Sienna). So nice to get rid of the remote from the visor.
Thanks a lot for posting it. it was a life saver as earlier I tried several times and was not able to make it work.
Good explanation. Worked like a charm once I pressed the learn button.
Thanks so much , for great instructions . I watched different videos and couldn’t get it to work . After this video I had success
Thank you very much, i just programmed mine. I was following the instructions on the sienna's manual but yours are so much better and different by using both remotes at the same time to send the signal to the car's trannsmiter first.
Omg it worked! Didn’t think this old garage had it in it!!🙏🏼
Thank you so much for the detailed troubleshooting tips.
I was expecting to spend hours fiddling with this but, thanks to your video, I was able to program my Sienna in about ten minutes. Please accept my virtual high five.
Great info here. I too have found that the Homelink can be picky when it comes to training. The reason it doesn't work right away is you have a rolling code opener. This means that every time you push the button, the remote sends a brand new security code. By doing step 1, you tell the Homelink what code type and frequency to transmit, and creates it's own code similar to your remote by seeing what type of signal your remote sends. It then sends it's own signal on the frequency used by your remote, and Step 2 trains your opener to recognize the Homelink signal.
Thank you finally! Doing exactly the things you did worked on my Toyota as well!
Hello Sir…With your video & description of everything. Worked in my favor. I definitely appreciate all your knowledge…God bless & keep pushing your vid’s😎
I tried this n it works perfectly! U gotta go through all the steps like he did.
For the first time in a long time I was able to program a remote to my Durango, because of the tips in this video.
But will the remote that came with the opener still work or will I need to reprogram that one too?
Thanks, dude! This totally saved me from having a meltdown.
This video was Very helpful!! It's just like he said. I had many other issues, read and watched other videos, instructions. Only this video worked and was accurate! Highly recommend!
EXCELLENT! ! Worked on my 06 sequoia! ! God bless you!
This was extremely helpful for me. Thanks so much for making it so simple but yet easy to understand.m
Thank you!! Mine worked in just 3 seconds!! SO HELPFUL!!
worked like a charm; tried the car directions and did not work but this did great; have to do all three parts for completion. KZread is great way to share knowledge
