To check for wheel bearing play, you wanna go up and down on the wheels. The side to side check is usually for any ball joint, tie rod, or control arm play. You also wanna check the bushings to make sure there's not too much play in them.

Alright, a few things that are essential for drifting an mx5/miata/roadster. Youll need to get a boot lid wheel rack and ratchet straps. Your coolant shouldn't be in the overflow reservoir, it should be in the radiator itself (fill it from the radiator cap but never take the cap off when the car has been running. Let the car cool and then remove). Another thing is your wheel torque settings. The manufacture torque settings are 120nm however it is better to be safe and torque the rear up to 130nm. I've had wheels fall off even when torqued to 120 and its not fun. I would also recommend a smaller jack. A 1.5 ton will lift an mx5 just as easily as that 2 ton jack that you have whilst taking up half the room. Dont be afraid to strip the boot of the car out but don't touch the metal plate on the left side of the boot. It covers your fuel filler tube. One more thing, get a bigger battery and an after market cold air intake. I recommend the K&N Typhoon air intake kit. Also, as much fun as it is, try and keep it off the redline as much as you can. First and second gear are your friends and I wouldn't even bother touching third until you have some power in the car

I also usually check wheel bearing by seeing if there’s play. However my 99 Miata had noise coming from the driver rear when I got it. No play in the wheel. It ended up being the wheel bearing anyways. Replaced the wheel bearing and all was good afterwards.

Shake down front end to check suspension, pry bar under the wheel car off the ground check for play in ball joints. When checking wheel bearings shake down at 3 and 9 ( side to side play) and 12 and 6 (top and bottom)

highly reccomend you get an electric impact for the wheel lug nuts or a breaker bar. usually torque wrenches(esp. the spining handle ones) are not meant to be used to loosen lug nuts. some t wrenches can go in both directions but that is for reverse thread lugs. otherwise great video! I am big into video production and your audio and video quality is spot on!
