Just got my modded ps3 a couple months ago, part of why I wanted it was to relive all the old ps2 classics I grew up with, you have made that dream a reality so thank you Mr Mario

*ABOUT THE CONFIGURATION* As I'm guessing right now, at this moment, config is optional and sometimes required, if your game is already a ps2 classic (Like most GTA games), leave it with the config the program recommends, if the program recommends just CONFIG (literally), check the compatibility list's notes on the game and use the appropiate configuration name, and if the list says nothing (and it's playable), cancel the configuration process, and the packaging will start anyway without configuration.

@@echoes28 I tried it, it doesn’t work unless you have 4.86 and CFW. You can only play ISOs after encrypting them and installing them as a PKG file. I wanted to convert my old PS2 games into ISOs so I could play them, but like I said unless you have CFW, it won’t even read them.

I was trying for so long to make this thing work and I'm not a modder, I practically know nothing about this stuff and gave up, lost hope I'd never be able to play this game again without spending an arm and a leg. Just wanna say thanks. I watched a bunch of your videos today and accomplished everything I was hoping to do with the PS3 I picked up yesterday. Got PS3HEN installed, installed multiMAN, was able to transfer a backup game from my computer to the PS3 via FTP and also install a backup PS2 game off a USB drive. Great stuff, cheers.

I dis this back about a year ago, it is truly amazing! Ever since I got a fat PS2 however, I prefer to run my backups on the respective console. Gonna need all the disk space to back up all PS3 games I remember running Sly 1 and NFS: Most Wanted PAL just fine on PS3

2023 firmware HEN ver: 9.0.1 still works perfect, i think this is the best way how to play ps2 games on your ps3, there are too many ways how to play but this is rly perfect :) thx man

Worked like a charm on my PS3 Super Slim with this method. I tried Freedom Fighters and I've been playing it for 2 hours with no glitches or framedrops or anything.

I've been working on this for a few days now and im stuck so im coming here since you always seem to be of help and I can not appreciate it enough. Ive got a super slim running HEN 3.0.2. Been trying to get my ps2 games to work on here but its not doing too well. Even attempted a PSP game and that didnt work either and its getting frustrating. The games will crash my ps3 on load and trying to launch into the psp or ps2 games launcher wont work. Installing the PKG files wont work either.

Hi! I was wondering if you perhaps had any suggested fan speeds or if one can make it so that the fan speed is specific to Ps2 titles (making it ramp up only during Ps2 play)? The webman Ps2 thing doesn't work and therefore defaults to my lowest fanspeed of 33%. My PS3 doesn't feel hot at 33% even after an hour or so, but many say it may fry my PS3 too... Thanks for response!

Working really good. No other guide worked for me. I have a little question now: I wanna play multi-disc games, Xenosaga II & III to be more specifical. Do those games work by making separate pkgs for each disc or do I have to merge them into one? Thanks for all your help and in advance.

I think making them into seperate pkgs for each disc would work best because then it will read as seperate games that you can still play, if you merge them together then it would probably become an unreadable mess

@@joobakins you need the NFTS app too so u can use the USB with more then 4gb. U hold X on that app before opening irisman. and then u click mount to xmb on the file manager in irisman

When I check the ps2 backwards compatibility list, and it says a config dramatically helps the performance of the game, what exactly does that mean? And how would I go about using a config to help improve the game’s performance?

You can see when he's messing with the ps2 classics gui on his computer it looks for a config file out of a large pool of them that best fits the game.

It's because it's using a PS2 emulator, like an emulator on PC, configuration can drasticly change how the game behave. And the app contains configuration for ps2 if I understand this correctly.

@@brandonjohnson8635 it wont ever play ps2 games. but it will play ps2 classics. my super slim will play ps3 iso's, ps1 and even psp iso files. just not ps2.

Ive been trying to remote play these ps2 games on ps3 with the vita but that controller disconnect is the only obstacle left to resolve. Ps2 remote play is my dream

I got a serious problem. When i use ps2 classics GUI it keeps crashing. Please help me. Edit: i fixed it. Apparently you gotta add the ps2 classic GUI to DEP in order for the program to work.

Big Props MrMario2011 for that Tutorial :) That's exactly the way i do it too :) Also the Config Files sometimes are not Important , you can even Convert Preproduction / Beta / Alphas to .PKG too (most of them except for One Version of Ratchet and Clank dunno why though) as far as i have found out :) EDIT : Further explanation for the Ratchet & Clank Preproduction is , that it is Greyed Out or seems like it's loading the .PKG Info which it somehow cant , even though i repackaged it to .PKG so it makes it impossible to Install it on HEN HFW 4.86

@@MrMario2011 Sup MrMario2011 - i have just found out what caused that problem - it's simply the -> "&" Sign that breaks any .PKG lol! So if anyone want's to Repack Ratchet & Clank - just remove the "&" and it should show up and be installable (this probably goes for any other files too)

@@MrMario2011 Pacman616 is spot on, these are both important points that are missing from the video. Several commenters have already gotten stuck at the PKG creation step having not read the top of the file requester which states that CONFIG files are optional and that you can press CANCEL to continue without one. Additionally, it's unnecessary to rename the encrypted disc image if you cancel the file requester at the end of the encryption step, by default ISO.BIN.ENC gets created inside the PS2 Classics GUI directory. I humbly suggest adding some annotations to the video or description that clarify the potential pitfalls mentioned above.

Got the PKG to install ok, but when I run it the HDMI out stops and the controller disconnects. any ideas? I saw someone reporting the same on Reddit, but no helpful suggestions there...
