This video is ok, but has one example that is incorrect. If you role a 1 and a 2, you cannot move 3 if both the 1 and 2 spots are blocked.

This leaves out a key point. I remember you need to roll a certain number to be able to put your piece back onto the board. In his example he rolled a two, so I don't think he's able to get back on the board because the two spot was blocked by the opponent's pieces. But then I also remembered there was one exception where you could move into any slot you want after getting knocked out. Also, if if you have all your pieces at the end of the board or next to eachother, you can move them off the board in order starting with the furthest piece no matter what number you roll. I was gonna buy a set, but IDK if I will now. It's so much easier online with the computer showing you where you can and can't move. This game is too complex for real life, because there are too many exceptions to the rules.

"In his example he rolled a two, so I don't think he's able to get back on the board because the two spot was blocked by the opponent's pieces." - correct, it was inaccuracy of the video. You should be able to see second dice on screen with 1 on it. "But then I also remembered there was one exception where you could move into any slot you want after getting knocked out." - never heard about it, I do not think such rule exists. "Also, if if you have all your pieces at the end of the board or next to eachother, you can move them off the board in order starting with the furthest piece no matter what number you roll" - not actually. Rule 1: To start bearing off the pieces you need to have them all at home (last 6 fields). Rule 2: For example if you have 2 pieces (6-away and 3-away) and you toss 4, you need to move forward the 6-away piece to utilize 4 pips (move points) completely. If you toss 3, you may either bear-off the one 3-away or move forward the one 6-away. Your choice. If you have only 1 piece 3-away, than you can bear-off if you toss 3 or more (no option to utilize extra pip-move)

WOW! You're right. Good catch! He also screwed up on the reentry. He wouldn't be able to reenter the board by rolling a two, because the two spot was blocked by the opponent's pieces. This game has too many weird rules.

hi, I disagree, it is no better, no worse, it is different and this is the beauty of this. Similiarily like checkers or go/baduk. Someone may prefer one over the another, but both are amazing. . In chess there is no randomness involved, while in backgammon there is randomness factor, that is cancelling out in the long run. If you play 100 chess matches against grandmaster (assuming, that you are not the one), the expected result will be 100:0. In backgammon it will be most likely 75:25, as each game is a mix of luck (roll dices) and skill (decide on a move). If you play matches, when you also use doubling dice (not explained in this video) the luck factor is impaired even further. When playing a match against grandmaster you may luckily win a game, but you will rather not win the match.
