@@aprah I mean nothing beats real experience but it definitely helped me out with the 90 degree backs. It gave me a better understanding of when to get back under the trailer

this is amazing. i just ordered a wheel because my last one got a bit chewed up sadly, but now i am 100% ordering the seat set to go with it, that looks fantastic and might i add kinda comfortable.

One time I saw someone play this game in VR and I really wanted to try it. This helped out A L O T and I had a lot of fun playing in VR, thanks!

just ordered a reverb g2 after sitting on the fence for a couple years. this is my main game i play and happy to find out i can play in vr. been using nvidia surround and it gets on my nerves. vr seems to be the best next step. thanks alot for this.

It's nice seeing my hometown, at least in name, show up in a game, or on some videos that would normally have nothing to do with it.

No it does help you well for me at least it builds muscle memory backing into docks and constantly checking your mirrors is smooth in vr

It's no longer realistic, they sucked all the fun out of trucking around 2017. I've got 2.1 million safe miles no tickets or accidents. But the large companies insurance forced them to install inward and outward cameras, the inward camera follows your eye/head movements, and the company can set it up to alert dispatch every time you don't check mirrors every 20 seconds, or pick up your food in the floor, or even drive with one hand on the wheel. It'll send a video of you to your dispatcher. I started switching trailers at Ford after AD transport sent me a message about not giving the middle finger to cars in company equipment, I was 60 Miles from my destination, a GM load that had to be on time or the line would go down, I turned around and drove 400 Miles's back to Detroit to quit, they reported the truck stolen lol....I had cops waiting for me, but they couldn't do anything since I returned the load, gm fined AD transport 9 grand every hour the line was down. By the time I was parked I was already hired at Ford ...I drove directly over to take my drug screen and road test, been there ever since. So to make it realistic they gotta put cameras and a computer going off constantly with dispatchers whining and bitching at you

What if there are no options to choose under the "beta" drop down menu?

Even with scaling 400% and all graphics setup at high and ultra, the road signs are very blurry. I can barely read the signs at 50 meters. Is it normal?

How do I share my screen on the desktop when in VR? On the desktop, its only a black screen when I am driving, but when it is on the menu, it displays on the desktop as well. Is there a way for it to display on the desktop of what I see when driving instead of a black screen? Thanks

Probably around 800-1200 dollars. And the pc is probably 1200-3000$ since he is running it with vr and not much lag.

2:59 this is where im stuck, after that it'll launch in desktop mode and it might impact performance. I followed everything but it wont work

I love playing this game in VR. The question is how to integrate using VR and some physical buttons to control things? I'd like to make a small cockpit to play this sim but I'm not sure how i'd find the buttons while wearing the headset...

I use a logitech 29, and I know exactly what you mean. My idea would be to build a truck sim cockpit, 3d print custom buttons and controls and run them thru arduino or similar. Im actually in the process of doing this but for flight sim.

@@CrashTestedRC Yes, I'm doing the same thing. I am working on a box very similar to the ASP heavy hauler with loads of buttons, an ignition and so on. However for using the VR headset, it would be hell trying to find where the button is for each thing. So the question arises, how to make a sim cockpit where you are easily able to find the right button while wearing the headset?

@@guritche that's the million dollar question currently. I have an idea to use oculus quest hand tracking capability and then set up the sim as close as possible to what it looks like in vr...let's just say I'm no programmer so there's alot of work to be done

@@CrashTestedRC That's right, same idea here. I was looking up on how to extract the 3D models from ETS, and after a lot of work I finally figured out how to get my truck's model. I plan to use that model as a base to 3D print the dash panel so it's as similar as possible to the game. Maybe that would help in finding stuff, I'm not sure. Good luck with your build!

Are the mirror images full 3d or a flat plane? It looks like they’re recessed at least, but I can’t tell if they have full depth.

It looks great. About those mirrors, if you lean towards them, does the image get closer, or do you see more of the reflection. Everything I’ve played (on PSVR) has the image pasted onto the mirror surface, so you can’t lean to see the area you want.

When you're in the game they look like screens not real mirrors. I'm guessing that indicates flat plane.

@@mustang8258 - I ended up getting TrackIR - just head tracking. Leaning around in the cab does impact the what’s shown in the mirror - leaning left will reveal more of the side of the truck, for example. Feels pretty convincing, but it’s obviously not a stereo image, so the effect may be more effective with head tracking than full vr.

I am not able to find the correct configuration. the game seems to be fast. the cars are moving fast through the streets and when I pass through the rodabounts also to be fast. It's my first time, so I'm kind of lost. I bought the simulator to practice, as I will work as a truck driver here in England.

Awesome tutorial but just a heads up make sure you guys all have the oculus software before hand if you guys are using it

If your using oculus need the software. HTC vive and valve index don't need it. Thanks for the pointer I actually have it in the next update video of this but I'm not happy with how the video turned out yet

how do I get the quest to do full head tracking? I can turn my head and look from side to side and up and down but it will not move my view forward or backward when I lean those directions to get a better view out the window for traffic.. hope that made sense...

Press reset seated position in the steam vr dashboard. You might need the Beta and enable the button in your settings if the reset button isn't next to your volume button

hi im using the oculus quest 2 via air link and have set the launch to -openvr. The air link interface or matrix as i call it never goes away, and the game never opens in its own "application" hence im stuck in the oculus matrix viewing the game and it makes the use of a headset utterly pointless as its like im playing on a monitor (headset doesnt control head movements just acts as my desktop). My oculus is up to date, i have the correct beta installed and im baffled. When i try changing the launch to -oculus then it opens in its own application but is stuck on a loading screen and a picture of a semi. Do i need a link cable or am i missing something???

If your using airlink set it to -oculus Only set it -openvr if your not using oculus software. When it shows the truck which seems to be frozen it should be working in the headset. You can then press f11 select your trip from your monitor. Then press f11 again and it should be back in your headset. Hope that helps

Still pretty blurry on quest 2. It won't let me change game graphics past 1080p

I don't have the steam version of the game and tried adding the game into steam library and it only adds the shortcut and don't have this options in properties menu. Is there another way to do it?

Congratulations for the video. Can you help me. I bought a quest 2 a week ago and I'm not able to configure it correctly to play with quest 2 . I've been there for long hours and nothing. A friend set up Óculos and updated the graphics card. But the problem is the configuration in Eurotrucker simulator 2.

You mentioned using Oculus mirror to record or capture that as a source. If I use OBS I get weird lag capturing from the mirror. Any Idea on how to fix that?

Right-click on the game, and go to properties. Under the Betas tab, there is a drop down, I run the latest one, currently 1.48.5 Then, under the General tab, at the bottom under Advanced Users type in the correct launch option based on your setup (-oculus or -openvr) Hope that helps

Reset your vr position, I have not used the reverb g2 but you should be able to reset your position thru steamvr. Hope that helps

The in game menu has changed (2023-02-22) and OculusSetup does not work in Windows 7 anymore. I know I need to get Windows 10.🙂 I bought the Oculus Quest 2, now called Meta Quest 2 hoping to play both games in VR.

@@ThomasTrucker SteamVR window (the one where you can see controller/headset/lighthouse status and such), go to the dropdown menu (the says SteamVR text in the top right corner) and click display mirror. Then a window opens mirroring what you can see in the headset

Thank you for this, first of all. But right off the bat I have issues. I have the game installed already, maybe that's not why I'm seeing this menu that you have with ATS Properties. Can't seem to find that in Steam. Maybe things have changed since this video is over a year old, but I also saw a "Steam VR" app within Steam so I installed it, but it doesn't recognize the device as being plugged in. Is it possible things have changed since this video??

@@CrashTestedRC Thanks for the reply. I tried the Steam VR app and it seemed to work, it opened Steam in the VR headset but when I launched Truck Sim it still ran in just a flat screen within the VR. I assume that Steam does not officially consider Truck Sim a VR game. I'm trying your method but "-oculus" doesn't seem to work. I'm also using a Rift S. Do I have to still have the Oculus software running?

I have not tried first hand....but I have read that guys have got some vr games working with like shadowcloud and virtual desktop

if you are using the Oculus Quest 2, use "-openvr" not "-oculus." if you use "-oculus" the game will use the controllers to move the camera.

Found a steam forum post saying its a patch issue. Something about needing a config.cfg file from EuroTruckSim patch 1.30 that you copy and paste in the AmericanTruckSimulator file.....but the post is from 2018. We can compare our config files and if they are different I can send you mine to see if that works. We will get it working for ya!

I followed all of the steps, plugged my oculus quest 2 into my pc with my cord, i press play, and press f11 and nothing happens, I don’t know if I have to do something in oculus or idk, do I have to use steamvr or no because I have steamvr, but it just says please plug you vr headset in, when I have it plugged in, can you please help me?

If you do it wireless thru remote play you need steam vr. Oculus air link or with the cable then you just need to make sure it launches oculus. I'm working on a new video on getting the Truck Sims working in VR. Hope to have it done sometime soon

VR HELP!! At like 6:30 . If you watch the fence in the distance etc its kinda blinking or flashing. I have a real problem with that when i drive in vr. Its really enoying... what is the word for that "blinking" "flashing" in that distance graphics? And can it be fixed??

That’s a general problem with ATS and ETS2. It isn’t limited to vr. It’s that old ass game engine. The only way to really fix it (for a normal display, don’t have a clue about in vr) is to use something like Nvidia inspector to go in and make a bunch of changes to render the game a lot higher.

@@bricktobrick252 A specific term for the blinking? Afraid not. Although it does seem to be connected to an aliasing problem. You know in games we usually have an anti-aliasing option to reduce that although in ATS and ETS2 the in game AA is pretty crap. That's why some people use that NPI program to force some different settings into the game. Let me be clear - I do not know if what I am about to link you will work for or be helpful or harmful for use with VR. Proceed at your own risk of wasting time on something that may not work for that. (also this is only for Nvidia cards) This is the link to a post all about using NPI to force different settings into ATS/ETS2. This post is not specific to VR and is originally meant for players running a traditional display. It may or may not work with VR. I am unsure. roextended.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1000

Hi, I have just bought euro truck sim 2 on sale on steam. Did the few steps needed for vr to work. Open the game and it opens fine but the menu is like really low down below me. I tried holding the oculus button to make it appear in front of me but it doesn't. I managed to actually get through menu (just) and into a lorry, but again the camera was weird, I was like well above the steering wheel and my head was almost popping through the roof of the cab. Again holding oculus button disnt fix this. I am using a quest 2 with virtual desktop. Any ideas how to sort this as am really looking forward to playing this in vr. Thanks man.

Yea need to reset your height, generally holding oculus button like you said and then clicking reset for the ap fixes it, but it sounds like you probably need to reset the height within steam vr

how do i set the launch option, it does not look the same as yours?, I did everything and am on a quest 2, connected to my pc, when I get in game and I hit F11 the mouse still moves

I got it in vr on the quest 2 but the resolution sucks it like 470p, while the quest 2 is 4k. How do i increase the res?

Check all your settings, scaling, etc it should not be that bad. Quest is 1832 x 1920 per eye so you should be able to have basically everything maxed out. With the settings I showed in this video it looked pretty good for me

I've got scaling on 100% since it will lag if i put it higher, but even when i do nothing changes. The resolution will still be bad at 400% scaling

My friends and I like this game in VR, but I don't like that you can't also see anything on the regular tv. Do you know a way to have it play in VR & TV simultaneously

You can just look at your vr display from steam vr and enable audio mirroring. There will be no audio if you share this via Discord as it doesn't capture desktop audio, only per application audio.

If your on Oculus you can also use the Oculus Mirror to show what the VR player is seeing

Do you need to steam vr app and windows mixed reality to play this game.

You will eed steam vr, but if your running a mixed reality headset you will need the mixed reality as well

Mine puts me in a movie theater with a giant screen in front of me instead of in the truck I'm using ivry with my psvr and I unchecked the box as well what do I need to do to get in the truck not in a movie theater

As long as you follow the setups to and get the extra download it should work. For psvr I believe its -openvr it should load into vr. Then menu will display in vr or on screen press F11 to swap. Hopefully you get it working. If you need any help let me know!

f11 doesnt do anything, and my game continues to run normally in my monitor. im running an oculus quest with a link cable. what do i do

@@CrashTestedRC nevermind i fixed it, i was on an oculus quest 1 with link but using "oculus" didn't work so i changed it to "openvr" and it worked

I did exactly what you said, except nothing pops up in my oculus headset just the normal home dashboard screen for oculus. And f11 does nothing for me hmmm I'm using the newest version the 1.38 for oculus....any help would be awesome if not im sure il eventually figure it out haha!

If you followed the steps it should be working. Only thing I can think of is to double check the steps I told you and restart the pc. It generally just works. I will check mine to make sure they didn't put a patch out or something that is causing it not to work anymore.

Not that I'm aware of. But that's hold most VR games are. I would just try to adjust from the option menu when in vr

whenever I load into the game, my monitor is a black screen so I can't record/stream it. How do I fix this?

Make sure it's set to -oculus or -openvr. I will have to check if they updated something, so it could be different, but it should still be the same

For me steam writes ETS2 dont supports vr so it will open on desktop

Unfortunately with how they have ats/etc setup for vr it does that. What you have to do is either use the oculus mirror or the screen mirror thru steam

Hi there CrashTest. Could you share your ATS/Oculus settings, please. I'm having a hard time getting decent quality with my Rift S. My specs are: Intel i5 9600k Gerforce GTX 1070 OC 31GB of 3200 Ram Game is installed on m2 ssd Oculus Rift S Oculus has this tool - Oculus Mirror- displays the content that appears within the Rift headset on your computer monitor. On the Oculus Mirror game is looking awesome! This is a frame capture form Oculus debug tool - ibb.co/Xxhp20b But on the headset everything is so blurry and bright, not even close to this quality. On your video everything is super clear and you can see details and stuff like that. I'm wondering about your video is this actually what you see within the headset or this a stream? If it is I'm not even close to this, almost unplayable.

Hey sorry I could have sworn i replied, yes I can get you my setup etc. I think I changed a few but overall its just turned all the way up. And my pc is not top of the line so you should have no issue

What is the key to reset position in vr when inside the truck?

I hold the oculus button and then click re-enter view but I think you can map it to whatever button you want in options. Like in dirt rally 2.0 I have it set to the ps button on my logitech g29

What do I do on the oculus quest to get it launched? I use Air Link

You should just have to launch the game thru steam. Since you set launch options it should just launch into vr. I was playing wirelessly with the quest thru remote desktop before link cable or air link. Basically what im saying is it should just work once the beta is installed and launch options set. Hope that helps

Do you know how to fix the loading screen in the head set but its on the desktop screen

Just the loading screen? Or the entire game etc? If it's the game try F11

I'm trying with virtual desktop. I tried it a month ago and it worked but was very blurry. Just tried again today and I can't get it to work. Makes no sense.

I haven't messed with virtual desktop in a bit but it should still be working. It shouldn't be blurry unless your wifi was too busy

@@CrashTestedRC I got it to work with ets2 but ats won't work. But yeah it's choppy and blurry. I messed with the graphic settings. The resolution. Everything. It's not game breaking or anything but it's enough to be an annoyance and not want to use vr. Maybe a wired connection would be better.

It should show in the drop down, ill have a look, since as you can tell steam has updated and it doesn't look the same anymore

My game only launches in theatre mode, when i disable that check box it says that ATS does not support vr & will only launch on my desktop

Launch SteamVR, disable the theatre and then just ignore the message, you might want to try dx11 mode. Use your vr controller to close the steam dashboard if its open. Press F11 for the UI in your headset once you are in the garage. The message is normal and it should show the game on your desktop.

@@StiekemeHenk my monitor is displaying that i am in vr (i.e. mirroring my motions) but on the headset it is only showing pass trhough and an hourglass loader

@@m.m2967 odd, I haven't had these issues but lemme think with you. Can you switch off the passthrough? Maybe even fully disable it? Have you started a job, it should definitely go into vr mode there. Maybe give the loading a bit of time or it might actually have trouble loading something, which I doubt since it is showing on your desktop. I have no clue tbh, maybe googling will help you out. This is about when I can't help anymore.

I have yet no played multiplayer ets2....didn't realize you could. But now I guess I need to find out, because if you can that sounds like fun!!!

I just got an Oculus Rift S and am trying to get ATS and ETS2 to work properly in VR. I've looked around at a handful of other posts without much luck. Here's where I'm at for both games: Selected the most recent VR Beta typed -oculus in set launch options. let it install, etc. When I launch the game(s) and put on my headset, it'll either show the game in "virtual desktop" or not at all if I don't have that selected. I've screwed around with it in SteamVR, but it launches in theatre mode even when I deselect it in the Steam settings. I've launched it from the desktop and SteamVR without much luck. However, I have also tried it as -openvr which worked in Steamvr to an extent. However, I could not reset the HMD. I hit F11/F12 (depending on which forum post you refer to) to reset it, but it doesn't respond. If I can get the HMD to reset, this seems to be the much easier option.

Yea it appears to not be working the same with the newer headsets. I am still trying to workout why and how. I might try to contact the publisher directly to see if they can help. And then I will be updating the steps with a new video!

doesn't matter what i do it will not run in VR oculus quest 2 in uninstalled, I've reinstalled, I've tried just about every combination it just will not work in VR

Do you have any mods installed? I know some guys were having those cause issues for the vr. But overall it should just work, I plan to do some more testing with different headsets etc but just haven't had time. Hopefully we can figure out why it's not working for ya

Is it a little blurry and fuzzy at distance for you as well?

@@havocfire1ten I believe I had a 970 in when I recorded this video. Double check the graphic settings, draw distance, disable mlaa and depth of field, could turn up scaling as well. If your playing wirelessly try it connected with link cable as it has to compress and uncompress it all to do wireless but overall it does decent job with that

@@havocfire1ten yea, I have a feeling the only reason it's not officially supported is because they will put it in the next game. This was more just testing and proof a concept. I have a feeling this version will work with some of the mods out there, might be worth trying the different graphics mods

How did you get your gameplay to mirror to ur monitor?

@@channelforhunks it should display when you have headset on. Can try putting something over the camera in headset so it thinks headset is always on your head to test it, but it should just work

I have the first quest and every time I go in to play it stays in the windowed mode

Are you playing wireless? Airlink? Remote Desktop? Or with link cable

i was running ats in vr but now im trying to play ats with out vr and i cant move my mouse in the cab of the truck i have uninstalled my oculus and re installed at like 5 times and still cant move the mouse in cab ......how can i fix this

Have to ask, but did you change the launch options back as well as change the beta back? It probably will cause a download thru steam. Hopefully that helps, it should not require you to uninstall oculus at all

@@Dirtyx3South from what im reading online its a know bug, not associated with the vr beta etc. Anyway what seemed to work for a few people is to try launching the game in safe mode. Anyway hope that helps

I tried this but when I load the game it creates a strange buzzing/grinding noise from my computer. Only happens when I load it up in VR. Does anyone know what it is and how to fix it?

I have not tried other demanding VR game yet, however, other VR games run no problem.
