    Thank you for sharing this great video. HINT: If you'll put the words Romaine Lettuce: How to Plant (FIRST.). You will receive more hits on your video... putting "HOW TO" is way down on the LIST of Videos... Thousands of videos start with "How To".... Change the arrangement of your words... the first 3 to 5 words are the most important. EXAMPLE: Romaine Lettuce: How to grow and harvest your own.

    Steel containers are readily available at stores like Home Depot. You just have to drill holes in the bottom for drainage. Behrens is the brand I like: www.amazon.com/dp/B000AS3OVY?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamznicolebu-20&creativeASIN=B000AS3OVY&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.230I7160RRHXM&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_mixed_d_asin&th=1

    My romaine saplings are growing with the leaves sitting on top of a 4” - 6” stem. Do I need to replant so the stem is buried, or let them continue with the leaves on that tall stem?

    When you cut leaves or the whole head how do you keep it from wilting so fast. Is my plant just not healthy and hearty enough to stay refrigerated for a day or so. I've tried washing and keeping in paper towels or cutting not washing but still storing in paper towels wilted either way. I found also sometimes cutting and getting to the table that day still wilted. I love salad and want to grow my own.

    Hi Nicole, great video. Thanks alot. Here in Jamaica our temperatures are 75 and up... summers are high 80s/low 90s... would these lettuce thrive if I kept them in a shaded area rather than in bright or direct sunlight/heat? Thank you.

    direct sunlight is best but just make sure your watering them so they don’t dry out also don’t water them in the morning bc that makes them burn up during the hot day. water at night! hope this helped

  • @emilymcv.9659

    @emilymcv.9659

    Жыл бұрын

    Based on research I've done, you'll want to keep them shaded some and also give them sun. Like she said in the beginning, too much direct heat or hot temps and its likely to bolt or reflower seeds and the lettuce won't taste its best like that.

    I have been trying to grow my own romaine lettuce, and while it is growing beautifully, it is so bitter it's inedible... do you have any advice on how to fix that?

  • @Gardenary

    @Gardenary

    Жыл бұрын

    Hmm, bitterness is usually from the plant trying to go to seed. Once the leaves are bitter, they're probably past their prime. In the future, try growing it when it's cooler outside. Most places are probably too warm now for lettuce
