Im in FL zone 8B and I have a anna and golden dorsett as well! I planted a bare root fuji and gala apple tree this year and what I do is add black cow to the bottom of the hole along with a handful of bone meal. It helps hold water for the new roots and the bone meal helps the roots establish faster :)

10:31 - All fruit trees are grafted. Size of the mature tree is coming from the rootstock (dwarf, semi dwarf, full size), but the taste and genetics of the fruit is coming from the scions that are grafted onto the rootstock. Great video ! Thanks for sharing !

Well most fruit trees are grafted but some are from cuttings.

I feel your pain brother. Same thing happened to us here in Ontario, Canada. Bad weather, storms, bad luck. But I try to keep at it and never give up. Even though losing tree's really hurts I find ways to get passed it and keep going. If you can, check out gypsum for the property, it greatly improves drainage and i find our clay soil here in my area is draining way better than before. What i had to do is figure out how well our soils drain, so i dug a hole about 8 inches wide and 3 feet deep and filled it up with water to see how fast it drains, then I used gypsum and did another test, and i found it helped the water drain in a third of the time. Most fruit trees require good drainage and clay soils suck at that. Gypsum has been a huge game changer here, i put on a good 200 lb's over the last 3 years on my acre of soil. First year i just threw the gypsum all over by hand, i did about 50 lb's, second year another 100 lb's and third year another 50 lb's and I have excellent drainage now, huge difference with fungus type of diseases. I used to have a ton of dollar spots all over the property, and a lot of diseases on my trees. Now i have none. Grass is healthier and the trees are healthier too. Hope it helps!

I'm still looking for that tree that money grows on. My father said they don't exist. I'm still hopeful.

Thank you so much Pete! We've tried 2 type apple trees in the past with no success. So, we just didn't try to planted again. BUT...we're going to try your combo of Golden Dorset and Anna Apple Trees, since we live in the Bald Hill area.

Can you please do video/post about the zones? I have searched and found zones but would like to know what you use than just a random online Google pic.

Looks good, I will check out the Anna's. Hopefully the storm forecasted for next weekend isn't too cold. I've been hesitant the last couple years due to weather. I'm in Jacksonville area.

Was this previously an Ellen White Method tree pit? Do you think the Ellen White Method has worked better for you than more conventional planting methods or not?

You could try your local nursery during the winter months or search online for bare root fruit trees and have them shipped to your house.
