Back in the day! Yes am an old guy now! but whenever we were stripping or flaming stuff it was almost a given that we would ALWAYS run a razor or exacto along ALL edges before we began unmasking, just to make sure! still do it today!

Awesome tip vid bro, I gotta try this out one day. For the tape, you could make a flap that way it's easier to peel off then having to scrape the corner up to pull it off. You use water bottles like I do, they can be a pain in the rear too!! Peace!!

Nicely done. Good tip. I haven't done it yet but I know to take my time, and mask and pull tape carefully.

@ModelKarKid It depends on what type of paint you are using. With the Testors one coat you can usaly clear within 24 hours. With enamel paint it takes longer. If you paint enamel its a good idea to let it sit for a few days maybe a week so that it can fully cure. Lacquer dries a lot quicker than enamel.

Nice video, thanks :) Question: Why paint the whole piece metallic gold if you're just going going to paint over 80% of it with another colour, leaving small gold stripes? Is it possible to paint a gold stripe down the middle, leaving most of the piece un-painted, then mask and paint the rest in the other colour?

+sypher0101 Hi Sypher, thanks for watching. Yes you can just paint down the middle and then mask off. Since I was painting with a rattle can and they have such a wide spray I just painted whole part since it was small. I do most of my painting now with an airbrush so that allows me to control the paint flow and therefore not have to paint so much.

Thanks Joe! Yes this same technique will work with acrylic. Just make sure your first coat of paint is completely dry before applying tape so it doesn't pull it up.
