I finally gave in and gave you the Space Wolves tutorial you've been asking for as a special end of year treat! Hope this help you! I used the Primaris Ragnar Blackmane for the tutorial so this guy takes a little bit more attention than the "average" Space Marine but you will be able to use this paint scheme for any level of your army!

I'm a fan as well. I also think a blend of that blueish grey with a more traditional grey to tone down the blue slightly is super beautiful. That's how I paint my wolves now. Been painting them since third edition. I've also seen a color like his in the video but with a tiny amount of metallic underneath. That was super sick as well. Space wolves offer a huge range of color, tone, and ways to paint!

Space Wolves grey isn't even close to baby blue, people that hate SW just don't know what they are talking about.

Nice work. I think the ‘gut plate’ is his Belt of Russ, the Space Wolf equivalent of an Iron Halo, worn by each of the Wolf Lords.

Great video and very helpful. I've been considering getting some Marines, and of course the space vikings are the way to jump there for me, so this will be useful. (just need to finish building and painting the Nids I got for Christmas, and the LoV box I got on black friday)

Interesting technique. I'm new to mini painting and have seen people use Contrast afterwards, but not before. Did you need to highlight the red lining of the pelt?

It’s a super quick way to get base colours down on models before layering them with “real” paint! You can layer the inside if you like, I don’t think I did for this one!
If I have some really old figurines, that I've painted like 18 years ago, when I sucked at it and I think I could do better now...is there any good method to removing all the colour/glue from my models?

I think for this video yes but AK terrain pots are way cheaper and work just as well so I’ve switched over to them now!
Can you replace the grey seer with mechanicus standard grey?

It won’t give you the kind of effect but you can wash the russ grey the same and layer up just like the video.

Are you watering down the contrast paint? When I try to apply my contrast, it does not go on smoothly like yours, it creates all kinds of streaks and blotches

I don’t water it down. It sounds like maybe you’re applying too little paint and trying to drag it around too much? I use more than I think I need and then take away the excess before it pools at the end. Work in sections, like wrapping around a full leg before it dries as well.

Great work. Get yourself a turntable so you can slowly rotate your finished model at the end. It’s worth it especially when the final model looks this good.
