I just Chuck a load on and paint, water based is best. It all settles down and leaves no brushmarks.

This is really helpful, thank you so much! Can you do a product list for the caulking brand, undercoat and gloss coat? I followed your link and found the shopping list for tools but would love some advice on how to choose the other products if possible (and you probably already know but as a fellow KZreadr, if you sign up to amazon affiliates/associates, you can make links that people can follow and you make a little bit of money on it too without changing the price for your followers!). Thank you again!

oil gloss yellows the most out of any paint especially nowadays with restrictions on what ingredients can be used.

Hi DAKESIS17, in this case we used a good quality primer and then the top coat. The primer acts like your undercoat.

I recently learned I have to strip the wood, since the numerous layers I've applied makes each new coat show the brush marks even more so. Two ways to remove the old paint: heat gun to bubble up/loosen the old layers before scraping away, or use a chemical paint remover, then scrape away. We'll see...I'm about to try the first method!
