Hi Jeff, my husband was a painter for 30 yrs.he used an adhesion type product bought from the large hardwood stores. It’s added to the paint then applied. If I’m not mistaken there’s two or three brand names to chose from
Don't be so harsh on yourself for losing the painting footage, you did great explaining the process and how that looks afterwards. We're all looking forward to the doors and screens. Really nice work so far

Thanks Claudio, I appreciate you saying that. It was one of those delete/empty trashcan moments that you wish you could undo 😀
That’s a beautiful screened porch
Turned out really nice! Loved your honesty ... & I took notes to get mine done! Thanks!
Wow, the 'after' pics were gorgeous! What a beautiful transformation. Thanks for showing us how you did it. I wouldn't mind having a nice big deck like this! Cheers!

Hi Rachel, ha ha! I know what you mean. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!
Great breakdown on how to paint a porch..I used deckmate for painting the deck..what are your thoughts on using this?

That seems like a good idea isitebuild. I wondered about if that would work for thick paint as well, or just stain. Seems like it would save a-lot of time not having to drag around the paint tray for the roller.
I have heard of a type of paint out of the Netherlands Dutch area that is made with an animal product that supposedly lasts many decades. The United States used to use it years ago and is the paint that you will sometimes find on antiques that still hold its color
I live in the Northeast where we have harsh winters. Do you think just painting will hold up to snow etc
What type of paint did you use, latex, oil base, ? And what color did you use?
Any need to prime the wood before painting??
I was thinking of creating a checkerboard pattern on my porch floor. Anyone ever do that? Just measuring and taping right? I’ve never done anything like this-always hired it out,but I’d like to give it a try!
I noticed you didn't prime the bare wood. Was that suggested by the paint manufacture?

Rachel Summers I’m curious about that, too. Would love to know.

@@silentdiva74 yes and that was the whole reason I watched the video. I have been using Oil primer and light grey latex enamel floor paint and get about 20 years out of the job. (Rebuilt my 1923 porch with vertical grain Douglas fir after being told that was the best tongue and groove flooring available) 1 coat of primer (white, but could be tinted, then 2 thin coats of grey)
I would have put down primer over all the bare wood before painting(it'll last longer). Primer adheres to wood better than paint does, and paint adheres to primer better than it does to wood. Don't fall the "Paint & Primer In One" stuff the home improvement stores sell, it's a marketing scam and won't last.
It's good to see Woodglut have new instructions to save my money and energy to build it.
I did something like this a month ago with plans from Woodglut.
