How to Overcome Anxiety About Losing a Job

www.restoredminds.com/book
www.restoredminds.com/breakin...
Losing a job, however it happens, can be an incredibly stressful experience, I know from experience. One day you have a steady stream of income to support your family, and then in an instant, your world gets turned upside down. And while it can be a difficult transition to navigate, I have seen so many people experience this painful loss thousand of times, but never actually lose their job in real life. Their anxious mind has them worrying about every possible scenario you can imagine. And man oh man, can that part of your mind can have a field day with this topic, especially if left unchecked....
“What if my boss fires me because I didn’t close that deal?”....
“Then what if I can't pay my bills?”...
“Then what if I end up going homeless?”...
“Then what if I have to move across the world to find another job”...
My goodness, I am stressed just writing this. So in this episode, I will be discussing some tools to help you overcome this specific form of anxiety so you can let go a little bit and live a more well-balanced life.
Have a great week

I appreciate this video so much. I have always felt this way in almost every job I’ve had. I am insecure and sometimes it projects itself in my job. I was thinking about this again, today. “Is my boss happy with me?” “What if someone bad mouths me with the boss?” “Am I taking too much time off?”. I had a performance review a few weeks and my review went so well. My bosses told me they see me at the company for many, many years. They expressed their support towards my current studies. I get anxiety about this but only when I am at work. I start stressing myself out. I did not know anyone else dealt with this too. One thought that really troubles me is “If I lose my job now, how am I going to find another one in these times?”. Thank you for speaking on this. It really helped.

You are cataztrophizing. I think this is a disorder. If you received a good performance review and you still feel this way, you may want to visit a therapist.

@@timcook4552no it is not disorder, it’s natural thought process. When in USA employment is “at will” it means they can let you go without any aparent reason (of course, they fabricate some reason if needed). Most Americans have this anxiety and that’s just because there’s no job security available.

Currently going through anxiety over probable future job loss. Joined this new company 3 weeks ago. The director is asking for a meet up in a different city for a week. At first I thought it was optional because we are a remote company and travelling to a different city and stying is quite expensive and I hardy know any of the new colleagues to travel so far for a team building event. Ll so I politely declined with my reasoning. He mentioned that this is something mandatory and cannot be skipped because we have critical upcoming quarters. He mentioned this in a bit stern tone and now I am feeling that I have started my work relationship on the wrong foot with my superior. And hence the anxiety.

I have massive panic attacks because a lot of people i have been working with were really liars two faces and other times they were very venomous and ended up making me quit because of how crazy they were.. Losing jobs leads to divorce, inability to paty bills, and purposelessness with a lack of structure. I understand people's worries. I've always bounced back after lising a job but my last stretch was 7 months and I had to get rid of many cherished possessions to keep my home even with 3 months of savings and now I'm still paid 10k less

you explain it very well thank you. I am a victim of workplace bullying and exaggerated fabricated lies by collegues and my mind is saying just dont stand up for yourself because you might be sacked and bosses will think less of you. Then my reputation is destroyed. But on a spiritual growth perspective it is necessary to stand up for myself and if i get sacked then i leave with courage at least

I like this! I am going through the same thing. I'm building a case and I try to document everything. If I get sacked, there will be trouble. And at least I knew that I stood up for myself. But the fear is there anyway.

I started having a panic attack a few days ago. I started out feeling a little off. I continued getting myself ready for the day. Started breakfast and kept feeling a bit odd. I almost dropped several things I was carrying, but only dropped one thing. As I picked that up, my heart raced, I panicked and started crying. I had to put down the things I was taking to the table and sit down to catch my breath. Fortunately, I caught it before I was too far gone even though it took me by surprise. I had to be gentle with myself and rest as I needed. I lost my job two weeks ago and I know that was part of the trigger. I had no warning. I had asked if I would be driving on the weekend and was told no. There was an opportunity to say they need to talk to me before I leave for the day...nothing. They waited until the end of my shift to tell me I was no longer needed. They cut me off a week short of 90 days.

I don't have that much work in my current job. I have been asking for extra tasks but there aren't just enough for me as I am working from home. Should I ask for my job's stability to ease the anxiety? I have been losing sleep because of this. An advise from anyone would be appreciated.

But i get scared that if I make a mistake in my work then the principal will fire me and i am the only working member of my family and Thus I feel overwhelmed sometimes. Like i am scared right now I am a substitute basis teacher in a reputed school and we have to fill out the marks of a student in a markbook and then we enter the marks on computer and it is not allowed to make mistakes in the markbook as we enter the same in the computer. But while writing my hands sweat a lot and I was using a ball pen to fill the marks and it got messy in some places, in three pages to be exact and when I tried to use a blade to scrub the extra ink and make it look ok, to correct my mistake somehow it got more messy. And secondly while checking the information from the computer I saw that I have written Green house instead of yellow house and again I used blade to correct it and make green to yellow and it got messy there too.....so that makes it 4 mistakes. And the thing is that the markbook is checked by out principal before they are printed out as result cards for the students. Now I am scared that principal will see the mistakes and call me out and fire me out of my beloved job.... Due to the lock down I was out of job for almost half a year and those were the most difficult times even sometimes I felt like I want to end my life but looking at my mom and dad who now look upto me I restrained myself under great stress and when I got back my job I couldn't come out of that fear... That trauma... What can I do? I am a new teacher in my school and an introvert and I don't know how to approach others for help and if I do approach for help they seem to not care enough... and I am a bit weird and I think it's because of my behavior and my personality and the other teachers also perceive me as weird too although they haven't told me directly but I can understand the subtle hints and eye to eye communication and the smiling among themselves when I say my opinions about something.... I feel so constricted in there but that is my school.... The same school that I passed out from and I got a job in the same school... So it is kinda my place like my home and I want to be the best teacher in my school and want to work as a team but I don't know.... I feel so confused and alone and scared that I talk to myself and to the statue and cross of Lord Jesus Christ to share my feelings and I couldn't share my feelings at home since my parents are old now and I am working for them to support them and I don't want to burden them with my worries too. .... I needed to ramble out my feelings here.... I know no one will read through this rambling but if someone does then please provide an advice on how can I overcome my issues listed above.... Please earnest request to anyone who read this
