    People, as usual in this kind of videos, if you have any doubts, leave them in the comment section and we all will try to help you as a community :D ALSO, remember that every RAM Stick has an overclocking limit, being it in terms of frequency or timings, once you reach one, try to complete your OC with the other. AND, you need to go into BIOS to overclock RAM (and activate the advanced OC mode)

    You know what this video needs to be better... 1. Get rid of the RAM theory part (create a dedicated video for it and link others to it for any RAM OC video in the future). 2. There is no real OC session, like step by step guide.. it's always theory.. what new people need in OC is an actual example... 3. Example in OC for Ryzen system, Separate example for Intel system (this includes XMP, and the timing part) 4. TM5 is discussed but not shown how it runs For visual learners, these are really important. This is constructive criticism, I hope you incorporate this in future RAM videos

    The quality of your silicon determines how far you can go beyond the advertised memory frequency supported by the CPU. For example, I had a 10900K which crystallized a hard limit of 2933Mhz for my RAM. No matter the timings or voltage I couldn't boot even with the nearest option of 3000Mhz. Those who won the silicon lottery could reach 3600Mhz+ with stability on the same CPU model.

    It’s nice to see videos about the basics. I think most youtubers forgot that. As a newbie in overclocking, this video is really helpful. To add, It would have been best if you are overclocking in real-time, with a computer infront of you. This is because not all people are able to grasp everything and some are visual learners like myself. Cheers

    In general, when it comes to hardware/software questions youtubers in general, nothing about the quality of this AGs content. i mean generally it content videos is of poor quality, and there is just a few that actually Is of high quality, most likly a small timer with not so mutch views. so your lucky if you find them. and if you find them, and dont know so mutch aboout pc its hard to tell if the info actually is good. becuse its confusing... And the reason most videos is of poor quality if becuse the content creators simply dosnt really know what they talk about, or maybe they know ish what they talk about.. but really just copied someone else who knows better then they and what you listen to is their interpretation..... yes, im painting a black and white picture. but its just in general,so im using the big brush.. maybe there is also a question of time, how mutch info can a video contain... my point is, if you want to have good, and correct information, youtube should never be your first go to..well, if you know the creator knows what he talks about, then there is no problem.. But if youre not.. dont use youtube, its a waste of time.......... if you want a great advice where you find the best info.. PC forums.. you cant find better information.. I mean i know for a fact that IT enginers uses them all the time.. Becuse for some reason, the nerds of all nerds hangs around there, and they know everything.. even the one in a million problem, they got it.. IT FORUMS.. do it. becuse you have to have in mind that youtubers makes a living from these videos, so their interests isnt just to creat good content.. for some people, good content always comes first.. they have my greatest respect. some want to make good content, combined withs something they want to advertise, combined with entertainment, and the worst ones sells you "complete softwares solutions" wich contain all the software you need.,.. in reality it, they sell you software that it free for everyone to download at creators website and usually you dont even need them..they only sell a fasad, of their costumors think they need.. but in internet forums, you find the nerdiest computer nerds there is who dosnt have any interest in making money, its just their hobby. wich they actually could and probably should charge people for..,all im saying is that youtube is a bit lucrative... But its usually a very good indicator if you hear a contentcreator explaining the HOW and WHY, so you can understand what you actually are doing.. and not just do this, then this, then change this and do this now becuse i said so.. but no one understands what they really did. then run! lol

    I found this video looking for RAM OC tutorials and discovered the rest of your content. You got a new sub! I recently upgraded my RAM kit to a 3466 16-18-18-36. I'm planning to overclock it to 3600 with the timings as tight as they can go , but if I can get 16-18-18-36 I'll satisfied. I wanted to buy a kit with those timings and frequency but they are so expensive that I decided to take the poor's man way: learning how to overclock

    I managed to OC my Corsair LPX 3200mhz 32GB A-Die kit to 3600mhz. I had to raise the Main timings a bit old Timing Was 16-20-20-20-38 New is 18-21-21-21-39 and the Voltage to 1.4. My CPU (3700x SoC voltage on auto)seems to work fine with the Infinitiv fabric clock at 1800mhz also. The trfc on Auto was set to 990, i was able to lower it to 580 and trc from 86 to 70. Now im running memtest86 while im at work, lets See if there are errors. I got better latency and bandwith now, 3600 cl18 seems to be brtter then 3200 cl16, maybe the Infinitiv fabric clock plays a role too. My Mainboard is an old asus rog strix b350 f gaming :)

    It’s make no sense you need to try and test it yourself each system will have the right xmp profile for it for example I found myself using xmp II because it’s more stable for me I even OC it from 7200mhz CL36 to 7800CL36 !! I found that xmp I and xmp tweaked make my system to crash a lot btw my rig is 14900k + asus z790 formula and Corsair titanium which great for OC because it’s cooling is great and comes high voltage out of the box! I’m not an expert overclocker I never touched any voltages or something only try my luck and trying to get my best out of my system ! Also have Ryujin iii which great cooling for my cpu and I OC it also with XTU I think I got an average luck from silicon lottery my sp btw is 100 and mc 78 I also found the latest 1102 bios update is so great for my mobo so keep an eye on that either!

    not actually... there's too much dependency/links between frequency and various timings, one should only change 1 value at once, I.e. you want to see how high your RAM frequency goes, you should go like 20-28-28-50 ridiculous timing and increase frequency until it doesn't go any higher, then tighten the CL until instability then RCD then .... vice versa

  • @OMGJL

    @@OMGJL i do agree with you on starting with loose timings. you're probs referring to the github overclocking guide which is imo the gold standard/bible for ram oc. However, iirc he did recommend samsung b-die or micron in the vid which can easily get those 17-19-19... timings with voltage. If a person unknowingly bought Hynix or samsung d/c/m, I agree that starting with smtn like 20-28-28... and checking the frequency cap would be the better route. (only up until 3733/3800 is the sweet spot for current ryzen's imc anyway)

  • @wankerwhooper716
    @wankerwhooper7166 ай бұрын

    RAM overclocking Is not like your typical GPU or CPU.. Numbers up up up untill youre not stable...no. Youre dealing with two sides of compute math which Is the clock and the timing and each has Its own strats to boost It up and then theres the combining part where you essentially need to have equal both timings In relation to its clock and thus ofc its power amps and volts.. All that relies on your motherboard and cpu memory controller. Nothing easy to master but very nice benefits which Id say are worth the learning.

This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1350 mv voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum" Does this mean anything over 1.42v on a 10th gen is inadvisable? Excellent video but I can't find that specific answer anywhere!

    Should you enable XMP and then change frequency or disable XMP and then do it ?

    Gear 1 and Gear 2 is for Intel mostly. Most AM4 BIOS right now won't allow you (at least easily) to run the IF at 1:2

    It is more timings dependent i assume. Update your mobo bios and give more ram voltage like said in the video

    I tried using memory calculator for ryzen and i was using safe preset. I was able to boot but once i started testing it was spamming errors all the time. Then i gave up. Maybe my soc voltage of 1,05 was not good enough or 1,37V dram volgage was too low. I just wanted to make my timing tighter on my 3200 cl 16 memory kit
