How to Over-ride the settings on your Honeywell Thermostat

If you've just bought a new David Weekley Home at Mueller, you may find yourself locked out of the full range of heating and cooling at your thermostat. The builder does this to prevent the subcontractors running up huge bills. This simple sequence allows you access to the full range of temperature control.

    Thanks for this! Now i'm wondering if you can tell me how to program: When room temp is 72, set desired temp to 78, but system does not stop cooling right away without raising desired temp to like 90. In other words. How can i get the system to stop cooling altogether if the desired temp is only a couple of degrees warmer than actual? It used to be right, but the company came and sent someone who changed it. Now i have to wait half an hour for system to stop cooling, even if I'm freezing.

    I'm trying to find this code as well. I know there is code for number of degree differential because the installer came and adjusted mine for heating differential on/of... But for cooling differential on/off. I have to wait 5 minutes even if I raise the temp to 90 (actual 70) and then of course it gets too hot too fast. Would like it to stop cooling if desired temperature is 4 or 5 degrees higher than actual.

  • @gblargg

    @gblargg

    There's a heating cycle rate (CPH) described in the Honeywell installation guide PDF I found for my thermostat (a different but lesser model, so this should have it as well). I assume that this sets the span, though from the other angle (rather than setting the temperature swing, you set how many cycles the system runs per hour, and the thermostat presumably adjusts the span until it meets your CPH target).
