No power to Honeywell thermostat? Here's a fix.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I had no power to my Honeywell VisionPro IAQ thermostat. The fix was way easier than I thought. Saved me a bunch of money.
I couldn't find a solution anywhere online for this particular type with no batteries. So, when I figured it out, I decided to make this really short video showing what I found to be wrong with it.

Thank You soooooo much! You literally just saved me at least $100 in a service call to my house! This fixed my problem instantly. My problem was a little different in that I don't have pump, just a pan under my air handler in the attic , but I manually drained the water using a garden hose and this emptied the pan enough to not trigger the switch that cuts the entire heating/air system off. Thanks a million man!

Your video saved me a ton...thanks. Mine was slightly different, the other end of my hose that comes from the condensate pump was plugged, preventing the water from moving. Removed the shmutz and voila the system started again.

Never would have suspected the tripped sump… i tried new thermostat but wasn’t getting power (hard to determine without voltmeter if its battery backed). And indeed the sump was tripped and immediate fix. Great simple and direct video!

Thank you so much. I’ve never seen a thermostat just go completely blank like that. We were about to call an AC professional to come take a look - like you say $200+. The float switch was engaged and the pan and drain pipe just needed to be cleaned out. Easy job and took 10 mins - as soon as it was clean the float switch went back down and the thermostat came back on and fired up the A/C. Really appreciate your video - thank you for sharing and educating.

One of the most helpful videos I have ever encountered on KZread. My HVAC people did not tell me about the importance of maintenance on the condensate pump. I ran three cycles of 50/50 bleach/water mixture through it and all problems were solved. Based on the responses this is obviously a common problem that needs to be better known.

Thank you so much for putting this information up! It was my exact issue. When I tried to reset the GFCI it popped and let the magic smoke out. So I will replace that. Had to run my sump to another receptacle for the time being, but to have the thermostat and therefore the heat back on saved me an emergency service call.

I made all the checked points mentioned in your video. I went cuckoo. I couldn't find what was going on to turn off my Honeywell Thermostat until I saw your video. Thanks a million. There's a pan to catch all drips overcapacity and turn off the system. It was not a problem decades ago to get into our crawl space with a bucket. Since bending to get under the tubes and HVAC ducts is now a challenge, the problem is not done yet, only temporary relief until it gets full again. I'm ordering a utility pump. Thank you again.

Thank you! Similar problem, however earlier in the day I moved something near condensation pump and I guess I bumped it. Long story short, the lid of pump lifted off a bit and caused the limit switch to not engage causing the pump to fill full. . Once it was full (without ability to empty), it cuts off power to thermostat. Put the top back in place and we are back in business. Saved a cold Easter and Monday morning HVAC service call. Wow thanks!!!

So I don't have that type of set up, however your video still pointed me in the right direction to solve our problem. Just had a panel that rattled a little loose on the unit in our utility closet which was not pressing on a switch that when in the open position interrupts power. It was a panel that opens up to a plenum where the filter goes. Explains why it was going out intermittently for the last week.

You saved my life, I am eternally grateful and will follow your page for the rest of my life. I could not figure out the issue was so I turned to KZread. Skipped a few post because most KZreadrs talk too damn much and play all kinda nonsense before they get to the meat and potatoes. Stumbled onto your post and you got str8 to the point. My handler is in the attic so I never even saw it before, much less serviced it since I bought my home in 2021. I climbed my fat ass in that attic to discover a horror show. The pan was literally full and almost running over. Never mind the algae., there were things in that pan that I cannot unsee., and I was a Homicide Detective Sergeant at one time in my career. Needless to say, I took a wet dry vac up there and cleaned it all up then blew out the drain. Worked like a charm. An ac person would have charged me hundreds of dollars to do what I did. You just charged me your time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Be blessed man.

Thank you!!!!!! This is the last video I watched before going under the house to troubleshoot. The condensation pump wasn't getting power and it was full of water. In my case the outlet the pump was plugged into didn't have the GFI switch but resides on a GFI run - I had to trace it back to the garage GFI outlet, reset it and everything was working once again! This was all the result of our house being pressure washed. The pressure wash guy must have blasted the crawl space door, spray got in and then tripped the GFI. The crawl space door doesn't seal very well so yet another project for my already long list.

This video helped me (Thanks!!). In FL today it was very hot outside so when I went to adjust my thermostat I noticed the screen was dead (fyi-breaker not tripped). I assumed at first it must be a bad thermostat (power delivered from the house, not batteries). My water drainage pipe was clogged and so the kill switch in the water pan turned the power off to the thermostat automatically. I wish it sent a signal to the thermostat to clean the drainage pipe instead. Using a ShopVac from the outside exit pipe I was able to get it half cleaned out. Then add bleach to the pipe inside the house and let sit for 10 minutes and try the ShopVac on the outside pipe again and Bam! the plug released and now I have a clean drainage pipe. The kill switch dried out and the power came back on to the thermostat and the full system is up and working again.
