Learning so much from this video. For example, adding craft paint with a little bit of liquid Sculpey AND letting that came dry OVERNIGHT!! This explains why I had an epic fail my first time exploring this technique. I didn't learn the way. I just jumped into it.😆😀

Nice video. So is the slab out translucent clay or regular clay. Thanks
Do you bake the clay before applying posts and than apply posts and bake again?
Hello, I was wondering what three greens you used for the earrings you made in this video.
Hello, thank you for the awesome video! I haven't started my polymer clay journey yet. I need to learn the theory before applying it in practice. I've got one question, though. You applied this extra layer of translucent polymer clay at the end. What does it actually do? Would it work well without it? Thank you!
Nice. What did You use before liquid sculpey? Didn hear that clearly.
I loved your video and your earrings. I have tried this but my earrings dont look as translucent as yours. I tried pardo and premo translucent. What could be wrong? Thanks
Can I use a little bit of liquid sculpey color if I want to add a vein effect and that’s it and also I have a question can i roll clay through the pasta machine if you add gold foil flakes without adding any type of bonding liquid
Do you also do all the sanding and buffing
I used pretty much the same exact materials you did, except the paint, and when I mixed the clay chunks, liquid clay and paint things didn't work out too great. My clay got really sticky and the colors mixed too much! I used artists acrylic paint since that's what I had laying around, do you think this is what caused it to get so sticky?
Hello Kristin, thanks for the tutorial, I see in the video that you use "craft paint", is that white acrylic paint? I don't see it listed in the description box. Thank you!!

I often wonder why no one slices the square long ways? I’m doing this now and so enjoy it. Thanks again.
@RaisingNobles
2 жыл бұрын
good question - I have no idea why they don't!
How long did you let it dry after cutting the squares? I know you did overnight the first dry time, is it the same dry time after you cut into the cane?
Will there be a big difference if we don't use the white paint? The drag lines are a pain.

Hello, is the shine on the earrings natural?
When you say nice and thin what setting is the plain translucent on the pasta machine? Also the final earrings what setting is that on the pasta machine before using cutters??
@RaisingNobles

I would say around a 4-5 on my pasta machine for the thin translucent and the final earrings is a 7 or the thickest setting on my machine. Hope that helps!

Love these! Do you find it better to poke holes before baking or drill holes after? Also what do you recommend for securing backings?
@Jahmella94
3 жыл бұрын
Personally I drill after, I used to poke holes pre-bake but it would warp/distort my clay piece. Plus, a clean drilled hole always looks nicer. As for securing your backings, I like to use gorilla super glue gel. Once dried, I will either UV resin the back for about 20 minutes or I’ll use some translucent liquid clay and bake the clay pieces for 30 minutes to cure.
@RaisingNobles
3 жыл бұрын
Most people prefer drilling after - I’m not selling my earrings at the moment, but if I did I would drill after. Secure your posts with gorilla gel glue XL or loctite 60 second glue and then add bake and bond for an additional layer of protection
@madisonlyman8621

@@RaisingNobles so it does not hurt the clay to bake it longer with the back and bond after you've glued it on? I guess I am concerned it could burn my clay if I bake it longer

@@madisonlyman8621 as long as your oven temp is correct, which I recommend an internal thermometer to measure the inside heat of your oven. Mine is off by 50 degree lol (It’s old) but as long as you have the correct temp your clay won’t burn. I usually bake my clay about 5 degree lower than recommended temp. I’ve had success with that.

Can I ask why people seem to use translucent clay as a backing? I would have thought the clay rolled together was enough

yes. the reason for that is because when you place your cut pieces down, the outter edges where the acrylic paint is don't adhere together very well. so if you just place the cut pieces on your work surface and roll them out you will have your slab falling apart. hopefully that makes sense
