    Thank you for watching! The orange mat is actually just a silicone pot holder. You can find them anywhere, and they’re perfect for working with resin.

    How do you know how long to bake your clay? I have not worked with clay since high school. So about 30 years. I've just started crafting again and just happened on your channel and was excited because I hadn't thought of working with clay.

    Well thank you for watching! I bake mine at 275 Fahrenheit for 25-30 mins. That’s exciting you’ve decided to work with clay again! It’s so therapeutic. ❤️

    Yes! I have seen makers use clear coat epoxy! Just be sure to research which ones are compatible with polymer.

    Yes! Alcohol inks are gorgeous with this technique.

    Can you use triple thick instead of resin? I want to wrap a pen with this clay mixture so UV resin wouldn’t work (without a cup turner and I don’t want to invest in that for one project 😅)

    Did you add the earring backs for the studs the tiem you baked them or do you cook/resin them and then bake the back of the earrings on?

    Adding the backs is always the last step for me. I bake them, resin the tops, then add the backs and resin them onto the earrings for extra security.

    Hi! Thank you so much for the tutorial. My slab came out really sticky and couldn't get it through the pasta machine. Do you know why would that might be? Also do you let the acrylics to get fried before mixing? Thank you💜

    I’m sorry your clay was too sticky! So a few things you can do to help with that in the future. I like to allow my acrylic and liquid clay to partially dry. Another thing I will do if I’m working with a particularly sticky slab, is throw it in the freezer for about 10 mins. This helps to somewhat harden it, so it’s not quite as sticky. It could also be the type of clay you’re using. Cernit translucent is a lot softer than Sculpey Premo or soufflé. I stay away from Sculpey lll because it’s not easy to work with. I hope this helps! 🫶🏻

    Hi, thanks for this tutorial, most of the content creators don't show the translucent liquid clay portion, but I think it is important and you talked about it, will it help the pieces to not crumble after baking? And is it very important in this process? I'm a beginner and I'm collecting all the infos that I can before starting this as I'm creating a list of products to buy.

    Hi! It does help hold the pieces together before and during baking. Think of it as a sort of adhesive. You can do this without it, but your pieces may be crumbly, when you cut into it. I hope this helps! ❤️

    The only time I use resin on the back, is to secure earrings posts. I don’t cover the entire back, like I do the front.

    Yes, I drill them once the clay is baked and cured fully. I can definitely do a video showing that process! ❤️

    Thank you! Do you mean colored clay in place of the translucent? You definitely can, it will just give the finished earrings more of a howlite look.

    wow, you made it look so easy! I watched other tutorial on making fake quartz today, but the process was so long and too complicated for me as a beginner. Super glad I came across this one. I have couple of questions though - what do you use for drilling holes? Also, if I use an alcohol ink instead of acrylic paint, would it work as well?

    Hi! I am so happy that the video was helpful and easy to follow for you. ❤️ To answer you questions, I use a Dremel type tool, which is essentially a small handheld drill. And as far as the alcohol inks, YES!! I’ve used them many times for this exact process and they always come out beautiful.

    You say 275* for 25 minutes. How thick are the shapes? My premo says 30 min for every 1/4" so I would think for 1/8" that I half the time? Is that wrong?

    I followed this tutorial and sadly the pieces all crumbled apart, like all of the little bits of clay never fused. I conditioned and pressed the clay together as best as I could. Any advice? Total newbie over here!!

    I’m so sorry it crumbled on you…. To help with crumbly clay, you can use a clay softener, or translucent liquid clay. I’ve used both of these methods, and they work great. Just don’t use too much of the liquid.

    The liquid Sculpey acts as a sort of adhesive for the clay. You can do it without, but your clay may crumble and not stick together well.

    Got all the way to tipping out the painted clay on my parchment and then you said I needed liquid clay… wish you had said that at the beginning 😭😭😭 wasted a lot of clay now

    I do not, but you are definitely free to do so. I have also used my hands as well. Either method works just fine.
