*goes down rabbit hole of newer Vi Hart videos* ;)
For me the molecular shape of you video really connected concepts I knew from physics and chemistry, but had never seen together before. Thanks for the really interesting talk!
It's really interesting to hear that there's some theory behind educational song parodies, the complexity of the Choose Yourself still astounds me. Kinda makes me want to start another big video project for my channel after seeing all your old stuff. Fantastic talk too :)
I love, love, love that this work is being done.
Very nice explanation on why your songs actually work! Good art is characterized by the degree in which it is able to evoke a desired emotional response. You've done an amazing explanation on the mechanisms that play into your parodies. Watching you explain that those videos being essential to the quality and educational value really resonated with me. For a moment I've felt like this talk could've fit in a song parody of yours itself. Keep up that amazing work!
Yes! Fun! I bring you up so much with my students. Why? Because i want them to see the fun in math and science. And you bring that to the fields. Keep doing the work. And di more! As a patreon I want to see more. You are amazing with what you do so keep it up!
great stream, just what I needed actually
Wow, such insights in the layers of structure of song, art, lyrics, parody, and education - the shape of you[r work]

Me: wait he's canadian? Also me: FROM QUEBEC? How have i missed that information for so long...
interesting!
Hi Tim, great talk! One subtlety that has always confused me is the copyright law around making song parodies. Do you get permission from the label before you make your videos or is the law different where you are? I'm in the UK and I believe you don't need permission for a parody here as long as you are directly parodying the piece of art itself, so I always assumed things like this wouldn't count. Just curious as to how you approached this as I'd be looking to start some similar projects myself. Thanks!
Even laster than Nithin!

"It's hard to produce information in an audio stream faster than you can absorb it" Well well well, you are clearly unaware of the 4 simultaneous videos playing in a divided monitor.

Minecraft Creator Championship (MCC) is a monthly event where 40 minecraft creators get into 10 teams of 4s and compete for... something (? They're mostly trying to be entertaining and getting to know one another, a weird form of networking). And what I do is I pick 2 to 4 streamers in different teams and watch them all at the same time. Each POV with 4 different voices. I cycle through them following the action or the comedy by changing the volume. One stream on max volume while the others on minimal so I can pay "loose" attention looking for words that call my full attention. Every month I will subject myself to this chaos for a couple hours. And it's cathartic.
