In this video, I'm showing you how to make custom wind chimes out of epoxy resin. This is a great project for beginners, and it's also a great way to slow down the speed of your chimes!
If you're looking for a project that's easy to follow watch the video to find out how to make these chimes! I have never strung wind chimes in my life and no matter how hard I searched the internet, I was unable to find any tutorial to help me. I may not have strung these by any technical standard, but they are strung, hang nicely, and work, so to me it is all good. This video is a bit longer than my norm, for the sole reason of possibly helping another lost soul out there trying to figure out how to put this project together.
Technique:
Prep the molds
▫ Add epoxy resin to each mold being sure to fill completely but not cover the existing hole inset
▫ I used a heat gun to mix the colors
▫ Allow curing per instructions and demold
Now the real fun begins, stringing this thing together. I am a visual learner, so I tried to focus on and put the speed slow on each part where a step is required.
▫ Unpackage all supplies
▫ You are going to need some extra beads to string, which does not come with the kit. I have put a link below as an example, feel free to use what you may have on hand or a similar product.
▫ Pull a long piece of wire, approximately 2-3 feet
▫ Double or triple knot tie one piece by threading the wire through the preexisting hole
▫ Use a provided silver bead and thread through the wire and tie the bead by looping the wire and pulling taut
▫ Use a provided smaller black bead and thread through the wire; it will stop at the previously tied silver bead
▫ Use a second provided silver bead and thread through the wire and tie the bead by looping the wire and pulling taut right above the black bead
▫ Continue this technique for each piece of the kit
▫ Select the pieces for the large open round piece, you want one piece per every other hole
▫ The remaining pieces will be threaded on the small solid round piece
▫ This is where the not included beads come into play - use one of your larger beads and thread through the wire and tie the bead by looping the wire and pulling taut where you want the open/closed circle to sit. Have plenty of wire still to ultimately thread through another set of beads and connect to the top hanging piece.
▫ Continue this technique for each piece
▫ Once all pieces are strung, gather the top parts of the string on the opposite side of the ring
▫ Use a larger (not included in the set) bead and thread all the wires through the bead by looping the wires and pulling taut
▫ I cut the wire to all be the same length, as I found it easier to thread and tie
▫ Use the provided large black bead and thread through the wire; it will stop at the previously tied bead
▫ Use another larger (not included in the set) bead and thread all the wires through the bead by looping the wires and pulling taut
▫ I used a small piece of painter's tape to hold all the wires together
▫ Thread all the wires through the bottom of the holder piece (the one with a hole on top and a hole on the bottom), double or triple tie the wires to secure them to the holder piece
▫ Use wire, twine, ribbon, or anything similar, to add a hanger to the top hole of the hanger piece
▫ You are now done (quite a while later) and now have a beautiful set of custom, hand-made wind chimes.
Give yourself a pat on the back because that was not easy. 👏🏼

Very nice Celestial - Themed resin wind chimes :)! It was a lot of fun to watch the colors spiral out of that one sun mold as you were pouring the resin. Thanks for sharing :) .

Hi Tena. If you click on the gear ⚙️ or 3 vertical dots (depending on how you are watching/accessing the video) and click on playback speed, you are able to slow down the video. I hope this helps. Be well.

Hi Roberta! Thank you for subscribing. I think this mold took about 125ML of resin. I hope you are well too and best of luck on your project. 😊

I have just bought this kit and made all the resin moulds up. The instructions given are TERRIBLE. So glad I found your helpful video. I can’t find a ‘gear’ setting in my iPhone to slow down the speed?

Hi Annie. On the iPhone there are 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner of the video. Click on those and change the playback speed. This should work to slow it down. I had the same issue when I purchased and found zero videos showing how to put them together. I hope the video helps. Be well. Michelle

I’m sorry if the video was too fast for you. If I had left it at normal speed, it would have been over an hour long video. Hopefully, anyone watching the video knows to slow via the KZread app settings. Thank you for the comment. Be well. Michelle

Hi Mary. You may slow it down by clicking on the gear ⚙️ on a desktop or three dots on a mobile. Just change the playback speed. Hope this helps.
