    All of my family has straight hair and I always wondered why mine was so kinky. So when I was in elementary, I would brush the hell out of my hair thinking it'll straighten it but only end up with frizzy and damaged hair. Only after I rebonded my hair did I realize my natural hair was actually curly. Had a hard time adjusting when it can be time consuming taking care of the curls.

    I don't style mine upside down because I have a bad back. Although it sounds like you might need to deep condition more often, and/or use a leave-in. It took me quite a while to find one that worked for my hair and didn't turn my head into an oil slick after a few hours. After I finish putting in all the products I'm going to use (three at the most), I let my hair rest for several minutes and then root clip with plastic duck bill clips. Look these up on Amazon to see what I'm talking about: SM SunniMix 50pcs 1.8inches Plastic Candy Color Curl Clips Duckbill Sectioning Clamps Alligator Barrettes for Women Styling

    @@leilakabgrad123 - Yes, it's definitely something that takes a bit of effort. I consider it part of my self care routine. However, if you're really pressed for time, look for "deep" conditioning treatments in those little packets that only need to be left on for 3 to 10 minutes. Depending on your hair, there's usually enough in them for two or more treatments. Fructis has three one minute "deep" conditioners in little jars; I just used the avocado one the other day, and they work nicely. Keep in mind though, a True deep conditioning treatment needs heat and time to truly go deep into your hair follicles. Best of luck to you!

Going to write some down so I can remember them better - part your hair in a zigzag pattern - use a denman brush at the root - twist your hair to encourage a curl pattern Also I know it seems like a lot of work (and it is) but you can get quite good at it pretty fast and it can be a fun hobby. I never used to think it was worth the effort but now that I've figured out what works for me, my curls are looking a lot better and it's really satisfying!

I have learned more from watching 2-3 of your videos than I did by watching others for years on KZread. I tried your tips yesterday and my hair is finally looking as amazing as it used to look before the bleaching/straightening damage (I did my big chop 3 years ago but my hair had been meh until now)! I don't use a diffuser unless it is highly necessary. What I like to use to help with adding volume at the roots when air drying is using small hair claw clips. Make sure that the clips don't fully close onto each other, that there is a small space. For me, I use clips that I can fit the tip of my pinky finger without squeezing it. This allows me to lift my hair off my head, have air to flow to dry it out, without squeezing the curl flat. So to put them in, I would open the clip, start about 1 inch or so down away from my part, scoop some hair and lift the hair, clamping it down close to my part. This will help lift flat hair near the part line. It can also be done all over the top of your head for an overall more volume. I hope I am making sense of what I am trying to say here :D

    Yea my roots literally STICK to my head lol. I really need to try the brush technique I’ve always had trouble w/root volume. I use the IGK Next Level Nordic Cotton root spray JUST BEFORE I diffuse & this is what REALLY lifts the roots right up off the scalp. It’s an awesome product. And then if there’s still some dampness, sometimes Ill root clip til it’s 100% dry & this helps too. Also, I take the Aussie instant freeze hairspray and I’ll lift a curl clump, spray the root & while holding that piece of hair, I’ll immediately hit that root w/the hair dryer at low air but high heat just for a second & the heat dries the spray immediately keeping the root lifted. This is mostly for spot root lifting. But it works well & w/o frizz if it’s done properly.

I bought all the oliplex treatments for my hair and they are working great but now I've realized that it was the way I was air drying and styling my hair that was causing the stretched roots. May try this! I haven't used heat on my hair in a couple years. I noticed you use a lot of products. My hair is so dry naturally. Being on accutane for the second time, it's even more dry now. I just went a month where I washed it with shampoo once. All the other times I used water and leave-in conditioner and a cream or gel or both. And my hair never got oily lol. When I was younger it was just all poof and frizz and I didn't know what to do with it and didn't have any sort of curly hair mentor, but after high school I started trying to learn about how to take care of it. I used to hate my curly hair and how curly/frizzy it was at the roots and was happy when it became straighter at the roots, and now I would love it to have the volume it used to (used to have my hair straightened and thinned to no avail) and finally have defined curls. Thanks for the info and the video really helped explain the process!

    Just seems like a BIG investment in time, we are talking about at LEAST 2 hours or more from start to finish & to me an overload of Products. Clarifying shampoo, scalp massager, conditioner, olaplex, shampoo again , deep conditioner, thermal cap, leave in conditioner, styling cream & mousse. Seems like a BIG investment in time & money . I simply could not afford this routine nor invest this much time in my curls. I have a full time job lol (just saying) Sorry

    You have to do this everyday using a clarifying shampoo on a daily base isnt good at all even using a protein treatment like olaplex daily will just break your hair. Also, there's always an alternative products no need to spend that much money tbh.

  • @zoesee9109

    @zoesee9109

    4 жыл бұрын

    You dont do this everyday, if you were washing your hair everyday then ya but that's just way too much, you do it on your wash day and then for 4 or 5 days you dont wash your hair, you wear a bonnet to bed and then touch up a few strands that got messed up, only takes me 10 minutes max to touch up my hair in the morning. Also you dont have to follow all the steps she did to get the same affect, I use half the products and half the steps, this video has a lot of extra steps, imma full time mom and dont got the time either, the most important steps are clarifying shampoo to get rid of product build up and to defuse your hair, also when i run out of products and dont got the money to buy more i make a flaxseed gel as a leave in conditioner and then use aloe vera from a bottle as a gel, cheap and effective, I only buy products when I'm feeling extra and use the flaxseed and aloe as my normal routine, only takes me 30 minutes to an hour, depending on if I defuse or not, hope that helped

    Please do NOT clarify or use OlaPlex your hair every time you wash because you will have very dry brittle hair! If you wash your hair daily, try washing every other, don’t try the 4 day right off the bat because you will be a grease mop. That’s how I started and now I’m up to 4 or 5 days in the winter, summer due to humidity 2 or 3 days. I clarify and deep condition or olaPlex (both at the same time is extreme and would not work for my hair) about every other month but keep in mind I don’t wash my hair as often. And as someone else pointed out the 2nd day is easy ONCE you get the hang of it. At first we fumbled around on how to do this. I sometimes put too much product in or not enough at times. It’s all trial and error until you find what works the best for you. I watch a few different KZreadrs, I just watched this one for the first time. I have wavy hair so I usually watch sway curly C. I PROMISE it does get easier as you go.

    Excellent video! Learned a lot. One question: any suggestions for diffusing/drying fine, curly and thinning hair? Thinning hair creates and exaggerates cowlicks, especially at front hairline. Currently have to push them down and point dryer at root and forward, working way down to end of hair. This straightens the curl and looks terrible. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
