How To Make A Template/Pattern For Gutter Corners. Learn How To Do Custom Cut Miters!

This is my highest requested video to make! And here it is, How to make the pattern. If you learn this form of miters you will be putting up higher quality gutters. And saving money on call back for leaks, saving time on installs, and saving boat loads of money on caulking and box miters. Take the time to learn this skill and I promise it will pay off. If you have any questions about how I install, comment and I will answer all of them. I'm an open book when I come to what I've learned. All I ask is that you Subscribe and Like! Thank you all for watching.

Lots of good advice here. One trick to help your chop saw 45 to come out accurate is to actually put a clip style hanger in the gutter when cutting so it is the propper width and doesnt bounce at all during the cut. by guess is the template being a tiny bit off is why the miter doesnt quite match up. Either way great video!

Custom miters are simple, miter saw helps yes. Though thing to remember is no matter what profile or size the critical measurements are your top opening and the bottom trough. No two ogee gutters are alike so if your making patterns for multiple machines or profiles they will need to be specific.

@@onegutterguy560 a video on tips for measuring. Like, measures when trying to see distance between elbows for a downspout. Or when doing outside or inside custom miters, where to measure, like do you wanna measure exactly to the edge of the fascia or an inch off etc

All good and dandy BUT,looking the other way and watch for your fingers is no substitute for goggles and leather gloves,You want to look at what you're doing, and where your fingers are, also a short piece of 2x4 inside the gutter will insure it won't go anywhere while you're cutting it...

What saw blade do you use to cut the metal template?

@@onegutterguy560Maybe I should clarify. How many teeth does the blade have? Is it a 40 tooth blade? It should say on the side of the blade. in general for wood, rough cut 24-40 teeth. Fine woodworking 80 -100 teeth. For laminate, I have a special blade that has 4 teeth. Hard to tell on the video but it looks like a 40 tooth blade.

What kind of blade is that?? I just bought a metal blade and it broke the gutter up in chunks and send big pieces flying.. should I just use a general purpose carbide blade instead?

It's a general purpose / wood blade. But I know that the blades with smaller and alot more teeth work better. I bought one when I first bought the saw but the blade that came with it works so have yet to switch over.

I personally like standing up straight and looking down on the gutter. Or you would be crouched down cutting it out. But I have marked the outside before to cut out with a little piece on the ground flipped over.

another video that fail to provide enough info about how to determine where to mark cut lines and critical measurements. Also another example of youtube's policy of not showing negative likes so views can make informed judgement about weather to watch.
