Want to make a split hoodie or a split sweater at home? This video is all about the process from cutting to sewing the garments together. I recently came across a crazy instagram page called @defective_garments and got inspired to make a similar creation. I've been letting my sewing machine sit in the corner, while I just been showing love to my embroidery machine. Time to bring it out, especially since I have a clothing line. This will be another piece to add to the catalog. Thx ya for the video 🙏🏾

I am actually gonna try it! Have a couple almost new sweaters that I actually hated soon after the purchase. I love how you just went for it! After watching so much of KZread I was scared to touch stretchy and knitted fabrics without a serger, but you know what, fk it 😅

Hey bro, I saw the same ig page the other day and I was super blown away by the designs and thought that I should start making my own costume sweaters. I would love if you keep up with the tutorials. I’ll make other videos on those defective garments, I’m obsessed with them haha Besides that, now that I know how to sew to a certain level, I want to make some “getting started with sewing” videos and hopefully inspire people to start at home. I love your sweater! Just a note as a 55 year sewist, if you have stretch material even same material sometimes the 2 sides won't sew together evenly. First pin each end and at points in middle,. Use a pusher of some kind to ease in under foot. Loosen top thread a bit. If possible loosen presser foot a bit. Some use walking foot but I hever have. I also hold like a hammock, front and back. Stretch a tiny tiny bit while going under foot. Not against foot. Practice on scraps. Fiddly materials put parchment paper under fabric. I only straight stich I learned on machines that only had that. I do zip zag seams after sometimes.

Ayee thank you Kay :) much love Sewing machine was a gift but he bought from amazon I believe. Insta is defective garments I need to make an updated version of this video, I found a better way to make this haha
Using a Walking foot is helpful in these cases. The Feed Dogs will pull the bottom layer more than the top, If you can keep the more stable fabric always on the bottom it will be easier to battle through it. Nice Job though Bro.

I’ll probably make a video about this but what he does it most likely (never sure). I think he does a single stitch with the inner part inside and then folds the excess fabric and top stitched it which is the part you see on photos.

What material do you think do they use for the graphic parts? I tried commented to ask but they never reply lolz I asked if it was a microfiber towel cuz all the prints look like the same material towel like material so was wondering if the print they use wasn’t from another sweater but a towel haha

When you flipped the pieces inside out before you began stitching how did you line each sweater up

I like up the shoulder stitch, go down one side and then the other. Then I adjust the length if need be.

You start at the middle so the seem on the shoulder is aligned. You sew down on the front then on the back. Then you can trim or fold if it’s too long.
Do you have any idea what machine that use to create the woven picture part of there hoodies ?

Hey Shelby, no idea but it’s a service in the us that does custom blanket. He just uploads a photo to a website basically and get the blanket.

@@marllonmirlon it's most likely woven fabric yeah... i have the same issue here in france. Try to find a service that does custom blankets basically where you can upload a picture. A lot of business do that for wedding gifts, etc... you should find it in BR.
in my opinion you shouldve left the logo and put one beige sleeve on the empty side and continue with the beige on the opposite side of the logo

i've seen people make split tshirt with glue, i think you can do it with a sewing machine. I'll make a video about this soon but it's quite easy.

On the thumbnail, it’s a split crewneck from a kith piece and a coogi sweater which is fairly rare. If you google coogi you’ll find alternatives that you can use on your projects.
the other part you didnt use could match a red hoodie

@@vanluxious9978 Oh that i know :) She makes custom woven blanket with his anime image on it basically. Then builds the sleeve and sews it onto the sweater. It's very cool and unfortunetly i couldn't find a service that does that in france but I might have ordered something else ... :)
