HOW TO MAKE A CUSTOM TAPESTRY HOODIE (DIY Defective Garment)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Finally got my hands on some tapestry and wanted to show how Defective garment does it. Took a uniqlo hoodie to play with and got started. If you have questions, comment them and I'll answer everyone. Cheers!

making something like this looks so complicated but after watching someone do it, it actually looks simple asf

I’m glad I did it as the first one wasn’t that great and wasn’t with actual woven tapestry.
Awesome. I love recycling.. never would had thought of this... I want to take my old stained or holey sweaters and any other clothes and turn it into yarn. Why throw away when you can reuse. Thank you for sharing

I'm super new to sewing but I challenged myself to make a hoodie from a blanket I bought at the thrift store for $2! The weave is a bit larger than this one and it will probably fall apart, but I did the same thing you did here!

I think I would have sewn the tapestry on then cut the hoodie away underneath it. Similar to reverse embroidery. Same outcome.

I wanted it like I did actually. The showed fraying is pretty dope, even today still :)
Love the video bro, how did you cut across the seams on the sides of the hoodie without undoing them?
@ProjectStuff
Жыл бұрын
Thank you Jason. They won’t undo themselves that easy as it’s from a surger machine and then go back on them with my single stitch so it’s 100% fine.
thank you so much!!!!!

when your stitching the tapestry on the hoodie, how do you get it to not stictch the other side of the hoodie? i'm trying to stitch some tapestry on my pants but it stitches the back part too and closes the pant legs
@ProjectStuff
Жыл бұрын
you stitch inside basically, which is easy for hoodies. But for pants, you'll need to unstitch the leg to have the jeans flat. Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to google tutorials on youtube too. Best of luck
Does this work with any material? Or woven tapestry is best? I'm looking to try and get started, I love the way it looks but I'd like to try it out first
@ProjectStuff
Жыл бұрын
Woven tapestry gives it that looks but you can use anything Victor. Let me know how it goes :)
hey bro I made my own tapestry and I think it came out really good but I’ve been wearing it a lot, do you have any ways to wash it? I just don’t want to mess up the tapestry in the washer
@ProjectStuff
Жыл бұрын
cold water, air dry is your safest option. Just never put it in the dryer and it should be fine. Send me a pic on insta, I want to see it :)

Hey looks great! Quick question, why would you not sew the piece inside out so you don’t see any of the stitching and fraying on the outside?

Hey, could you possibly list your sewing machine settings, what kind of needles are needed and if you need a specific thread please
@ProjectStuff

I used what came with the package, never looked into specific needles. Thread I used gutterman all purpose. Machine settings: straight or zig zag stitch and tension it depends.

Would it help to burn the ends of the tapestry before sewing to seal the ends?

Does it make the feel of the hoodie different? Like the temperature is different in different areas?

It’s a industrial machine that’s used by companies that make custom blankets and all. Not sure if it exist at a commercial level.
do you know where j can buy custom tapestries?

in the US, just google "custom woven blanket", in Europe, it's still a mystery to me to be honest. I found 1 options that would run 200e per blanket which is So expensive.
