Good video. A suggestion from a quilter. The needles are actually "pins" and not a good idea to sew through them as they can affect your machine needles. The fabric cutting wheel is a "rotary cutter". Thanks for posting.

U could sfty pin yr draw strings and pull them all the way out n swap them than there is no sewing

I was actually planning on that. Sadly the company I got the sweatshirts from had sewn the drawstrings in the top of the hood, and it was sewn in so tight I couldn't cut the thread. But you are right, that is the best idea if you can pull the drawstring out!

Great video! Thank you! I noticed you sew ontop of the pins, I didn't know this was ok to do... Is this a method you've always used and ok to do? Thanks again

Thank you! I do and it works quite well to keep the fabric in place as you sew. The needle in the machine moves just barely to the side when it goes over the pins in the fabric so that’s why it is ok. At least for my machine it is, I believe it is the same for about all sewing machines. Just make sure the pins you put in aren’t too too thick. And if the fabric has very little/no give, that could be an issue.

How about a hoodie thats two colored but down the middle? Such as through the pocket and the hood part of the hoodie? Also have the pocket be completely able to get your hand all the way through so its not closed off like in hoodies with sippers. Been wanting to make one of those, but have no clue how

I love the idea! My first thought for the pocket is that you will need to cut it off completely. I would cut the stitching on each one so you just have the flap of fabric, cut it in half, then sew the two different colored flaps together. While that is cut off, I would then cut the sweatshirt down the middle. Some sweatshirts have a seam in the middle of the hood which would make that a little easier to just cut that stitching. When sewing the hood you will want to sew both halves together, then roll it back in around the drawstring to make it look finished. For the drawstrings, I would probably do that the same as the diagonal cut sweatshirt unless they pull all the way out of the sweatshirts in the first place. The last part is sewing the sweatshirt back together. Since the bottom of the sweatshirt would have to also be cut, I would just deal with a regular looking seam at the bottom instead of rolling it back under. Once the two haves are sewn together I would sew the pocket back on. I hope that helps!! If I can find the time I will try and make a video at some point but no guarantee lol.

Thank you! I will add it to my list! If you feel like just trying it, I think it would really work just about the same, except you will have to cut the pocket off before you start and sew it back on after so you don’t sew the pocket into two pockets. Unless you do want that type of pocket.

When you put the hoodie's together you put the right sides together?

As long as I’m understanding correctly. I put the left half of the blue to the right half of the purple. I pinned them and sewed on the inside so that I would have a finished looking seam. I hope that helps!!

Sure can! I suppose it depends on the brand you buy, but these ones didn’t really shrink at all after washing. However I would wash them before sewing together to make sure any shrinking happens before you cut and see them together.
