Using a stop block is much more accurate and much more easy instead of establishing a line every time. Great video!

Very good idea as some others had pointed out. I don't know why I didn't use a stop block. Sometimes you get so focused and closely involved with your initial thought process and your desired result I blind myself. Thanks for the comment.

Lynn -- Thank you for an interesting and instructive video. You made the process easy to understand. One suggestion: You might consider flipping the orientation of your camera, so that it captures the action "upside down". That way, when viewed "right-side up", we'll see things from your perspective. That way, when you draw a number on the blank (for example), it won't be upside down to the viewer.

  • @LynnLaceyLLWW

+David Walser LOL - I actually filmed it upside down but flipped it in editing. Next time I'll consider your thought and see how it looks. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you got something out of it.

great video, one comment/question, why not use a stop block on the sled to register your cuts? i do that all the time to create celtic knots. your scallopped ends would be great to replace a centreband on a slimline or euro roundtop type pen!

Thank you Lynn for your tutorials. They are a pleasure to learn from. In this video, you turn the blank to 5/8" before drilling for the tube. Do you think it matters if you drill and glue in the tube first, then create the 60 degree chamfer and turn between centers?

Lynn, very good video. One question. Any reason one couldn't set a stop block on the sled when the first cut is made so that each side is guaranteed to cut the next 45 at the exact same point? That way you wouldn't have to draw the reference line and eyeball it with each cut. Just wondering if that would work. Thanks again for a great video!

Very interesting process. What is the marker or pen you used for marking. It looks unusual to me. Also if I could offer a suggestion about your logo on your sled, I would reverse it so it shows up right side up on the video. It always pays to advertise.
