Great video
where did you get the template from please?
mr LL nice work
I appreciate the knowledge you share my friend. Thank you.
Great Job, now to the shop!
Recommend wipping the Ali down with denatured alcohol or meths to remove any leftover oils and residue before gluing which may help
I have been painting the blanks. It works for me.
I know video is 8 years old, but that box is gorgeous..
very nice effect
Thank you Lynn, you are a great teacher!!
Have you tried using Avery clear labels? Seems like it would work. Peel, apply, then seal everything with CA glue.
Just came across your channel and "I Love it". I especially enjoy the fact that you explain everything you're doing and what products to use. No one else I've found does. Thank You
What’s the size of your workshop?
Thanks Lynn. I watched this a few years ago, but time goes by and I haven't done much pen turning recently. Seeing this as I start turning again reminds me to not order any pen boxes or gift tubes, but rather make my own from some scrap wood.
Glad it continues to help
that is a plyers not a vice grip
A toda madre. Gracias.
Great video thank you. Good to see when it goes a bit wrong. Wood has a mind of it’s own. Regards
Lynn, thank you for this tip. I am new to turning and love this idea. Your videos came upon my search and have been a great help. Now I just have to learn how to reduce the image size on my computer. Hmmm...lol Thanks again
For the sake of not wanting pocket hole screws could you make each 23 7/8" circle could you make six 9" long slots either all the way thru or half way through the thickness of the circle?
I like the final result.
Life saver, excellent!
Thanks
The antler dust, is said by some, to be equivalent to asbestos. I am not certain of that but a long time turner who teaches turning and wood working advised me to wear a very quality mask. Just a suggestion
I loved your glue brush , my husband laughs at me for using the same brush 😅 thank you for the inspiration
Centering Punches are normally called transfer punches. I like to use a rubber eraser to clean sandpaper.
Very nice job, using drill press is a good idea to could make a tool to go into the chuck nylon or similar
Well done! Simple and yet elegant. Certainly well worthy of the pens we make. Would greatly appreciate a copy of your plan. Thank you.
Go the Bribie Woodcrafters 😀
Looks great! Did you cover the hole where the rod went for the hinge? Just curious.
so simpel. it´s a great idea! thanks for this video!
Second video I have watched from you. And will subscribe.
Maravilha show de bola parabéns mestre
Could I buy the pattern please
Wow!!!!! What a beautiful blank! Thanks for this!
Thanks, I’m planning on building this for my small shop. I am not sure what to do about the electrical issue and the rotating top😮
A simple way of occupying a corner of the workshop, love it ❤
what happened to part ?
Try the black CA, it works great for projects like yours. Thanks for sharing your video👍
Hello Sir, great video! On my lathe, when I drill blanks like this that MUST be drilled through the segments and NOT just the middle of the blank (as you described) How do you accomplish that when the chuck that I mount the blank into wants to center the blank. This makes my markings irrelevant. Hope that makes sense. I was trying to sand the blank perfectly so that dimensionally the desired drilling was actually centered on the blank.
Brilliant
Grazie
So strange to be watching this from "the future" where lumber prices aren't what they were 7 years ago. Now it's about $10 per board for cedar. Made me think when you said "Prices may vary in your area" that it would be funny if you'd said, "Prices may vary depending on what year you're watching this from." 🙂
Great video. I just started turning pens and I did an acrylic that had some gold in it so it didn't look too bad. I have a bunch of different color thick sharpies. I know I wont be able to get inside the blank, but can I use them on the tubes? Thanks.
Possibly incorporate rulers...left to right and right to left
Thanks for making this video- it was helpful for me.
Love the video.
beautifull pen box !!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice. I haven't seen any French cuffs in many years.
You can use your banjo as a stop to prevent the punch from hitting the sanding disk.
Thank you so much from Germany.
To set the decals, you can also use a finish like Helmsman Spar urethane from Minwax. This has the added benefit of UV protection, if the stuff you use doesn't. The Minwax stuff also doesn't take that long to cure. You also know that wetting your blank didn't do anything, right? Just beaded and then dried. No harm in doing it, but it's a step that seems unnecessary given the CA finish.
