Great video. A small tip for the bottom foam is to use some double sided tape to hold the thinner portions to the side walls of the case to keep them from kinking up when you remove something. Much easier and cleaner than glue plus you can easily remove it should you ever need to change the foam which is not the case for dried on glue. If you want to add some rigidity to the removable layer you can glue or tape a piece of corrugated plastic sheet (aka tenplast, or plaskolite) what they make realtor signs out of to the bottom of the top layer. Make sure the corrugated lines are going side to side. Adds quite a bit of stiffness without thickness or weight and is cheap.

The Best tool to cut foam is an Electric Carving knife, which would probably only work for cutting the outline of the pieces that go into the case. I found out how well it worked when cutting and shaping the foam for RoadRacing 12:16 Motorcycle seats.

I use Plasti-Dip rubberized undercoat on Cobra foam inserts in all of my gun cases. The longevity of the foam is increased tenfold and the reinforcement of your cuts are a lot better. Just spray it in 30 to 45 second intervals allowing 30 minutes in between to prevent over saturation or pudddling.

Going to try this out today got everthing ordered just curious how did you measure or how deep did you cut for the base plate? Btw it looks like it came that was as a kit! Great job!

Good video, thanks for tips, Jordan! Especially the torching method was new to me, good idea! On the tool choice: I recommend a sharp chef knive for the outer shape, set on a workbench and the tip guided by the table edge. No bending at all. For the smaller cuts the break-off blades are fine, but here I also would use a small knife, like a straight fruit or vegetable knive. marking the depth with tape or a sharpie. After all, with these tools our knives should be "razor sharp" anyway, right? Who needs those break-off blades anymore? ;-)

So I used the 57mm for the layer that holds the base and the clamps. The lid and bottom layer are the 30mm
