I so enjoyed watching your process and in doing so, clarifying my own. There were times when I was saying "do this", or "don't do that! (lol) Yet it turned out wonderfully. You have inspired me to put on some music and go do this now.

I just purchased some 6” x 6” plywood squares. Intended on using them as ends to concertina sketchbooks. But now I think I will try making a series with them. I heard you say something about being from Chicago. I grew up in that area. Highland Park HS used to do a festival (not the correct term but it is what my brain is offering me right now) called Focus On The Arts. You would be a fabulous participant in that program. ❤

Hi BB! I actually live in Highland Park and did a couple workshops at Focus on the Arts this spring! What a wonderful program it is! Thanks for thinking of me for it - I hope to continue to be involved in the coming years as well. ❤️❤️❤️ Would love to hear how your 6”x6” series goes!
👏👏👏
Last year’s calendar is also good for collage.

This was a great restarter for me! I had a series of small panels that stalled for me a couple of years ago. I was just blank on how to work through to completion on them. And during this video, I worked it out! 😅 Thank you!

I, too, have to argue with myself about loving a particular paper, mostly, and not wanting to use it. Sometimes, I win and sometimes, simply no. Your comments are well received here. One panel did not have even a whisper of the yellow green. I kept asking myself: where's the beef -er-green. LOL
I really loved the use of the catalog-chair-collage elements. Very inspiring and so much fun!

Stunning Jackie! This is proof that taking the grid journal work out into something that is wall-worthy is not only inspirational but has such great impact. I could see the joy in how you worked and in the enthusiasm during your voice over. And I haven't read the comments below so I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it - you're rocking the new haircut! Big hugs - be well! 💗

I love watching your process and hearing you talk about your thoughts as you do it. It’s hard to get out of your head. Have you ever done a abstract collage of a place you’ve been? How would you simplify, yet capture the essence? I’ve been trying to do this but I keep getting caught up in how much it should look like (or not look like) the place. Hope that makes sense. 🤪

Hi! 👋🏻 I haven’t done a collage about a place I’ve been YET. That said, if I were going to, I’d probably focus on the feelings/sounds/smells that I loved about the place, translate those into colors and go from there. Happy to brainstorm this further - it’s a lot to discuss for a comment section 😆 There’s a lot to consider and I’d want to understand your point of view before going into specifics. If you’d like help unpacking this a bit more I do offer coaching (www.jackieschomburg.com/coaching), but rest assured, every artist will come about it from a different perspective, so there are no right or wrong ways to do it. ❤️ Let me know how it goes!
These are great. I love the colours and lines/shapes!

Thanks so much! Yes, I did make the paper myself - there’s something so fun about making your own collage paper 🤗 (and just between you and me, I’m posting a brand new video about how I make my collage paper tomorrow morning!) ❤️
So cool. I tried to do one after your style the other day with the little squares. I didn’t know when to stop and ended up going over board so much that I wished I had stopped. What do you do or how do you know when to stop adding…..

Way to go! Keep creating as often as you can - the more you do it, the better you will get at knowing when to stop for your liking. There’s really no “right way” to do it - it’s just what you like best ❤️❤️❤️
Love this series! Beautiful! Maybe ask what phalto turquoise you are using?
@jackieschomburgart

Thanks! It’s called System 3 paint by Daler Rowney 🤗 Nova Color also has a nice phthalo turquoise that I also have, but the other tube of paint was closer to me when I made the video so I used that one 😆
I love your circle tissue paper. What did you use to create the circles?

Hi there! I tried to sign up for your upcoming workshop, but when I click in the email field the keyboard doesn’t pop up so I’m not able to enter my info. Same thing happens when I try to sign up for your newsletter. I’m using an iPad, if that info is relevant. Thanks, Steph

Hi Stephanie, I tried it on my end and it went through okay. If you haven’t turned your iPad off lately, perhaps try doing that and then restarting it. Sometimes that helps solve weird things with my iPad 🤷♀️😆 If you email me (jackie.schomburg at gmail dot com) and let me know which workshop you’d like to attend, I will happily send you the zoom links directly. ❤️
