I agree with NOT tapping brick with a trowel, but instead, using the palm of your hand and fingers to get the brick down to the line. Tapping is nothing but bad practice and a waste of time especially on a good running wall like that. Cheers!

I use to deliver flatbed pallets loaded with brick. I'd take my break before my next dispatch, and watch professionals like yourself, effortless do what you're doing. At the end of my break, a wall would go up, every seam identical to the next, the wall straight as a ruler. You're a tradesman sir, a professional. It's tradesmen and women like you that brings along the next generation of the trades. Nice job, really nice job.

He has a unique way of spreading the mortar I use a 9in trowel and pic n dip so I've been doing it for more than 20 years and I would have trouble spreading mortar like him

@@richyward7772 I already know, but being this is advertised as a “beginners” video, including information such as wall ties and reinforcement bars should at least be mentioned as ancillary information. Further, there should be a brief mention of weep holes, efflorescence, an bricks as structural versus veneer. Sure, the video was pretty good as far as how to lay bricks, but why not at least mention things of importance that relate to brick-laying? I’ve run across guys who watched videos like this and believe that “all I need to do is…,” and then wonder why their retaining yard partion wall or fell over or lacks stability. More than a few I’ve seen had no footer (attempted to build a wall on grass or dirt) and they believed that the wall’s weight alone will keep the it erect and stable. So yeah, at least a quick mention of this (or a video demonstrating this) stuff would help a lot of people and save them time, effort, and frustration.
