    When I saw that wide trowel it brought back terrible memories. When I was still a Hod Carrier we had a guy working for us with a trowel like that and he could spread a shovels worth of mortar in one trowel. He would work you to death if you had to start out in the hole and hadn't pre stocked the job! I started laying when I was 19. My dad kept telling me he didn't want to lose a good laborer. I told him he would lose both if he didn't let me on the other side of the scaffold and I had been laying off and on my whole life every chance I got.

    You shouldn’t have a small cut like that at the end, you should have a half on the end and a three quarter inside

  • @1kbconstruction824

    @1kbconstruction824

    Why shouldn't I ?, Not because most people put a header there meaning you can't put a small peace there

    In the uk we would normally use a half and a 3 quarter instead of a tiny cut . But there is plenty of ways to skin a cat. Quick question just got to Toronto where is best place to buy masonry tools

    Sorry Ryan I agree with Petesy on this The small cut brick The smallest cut you can have is a half brick It doesn’t matter if you come over the top with two three quarters It’s how it looks is the better way In Scotland, you would be told to pull that down and rebuild it the way I’ve just said Sorry man 😩😩

    50mm first course bed haha shocking. And talking about using your brick hammer with every cut is bad your small pieces don’t look good. Hope that’s not a finished face wall, use a saw lazy or a bolster at least to get your cuts straight
