These beginner videos are so helpful. Have to build a small garden wall during lockdown, and would have been lost without these. Thank you!
Best brick laying teacher on yt. Thanks from the states.
I want to be a builder when I am older cos I am interested in new houses
Thank you so much Stu. I can't wait to build a raised bed to plant vegetables.
Nicely explained, going into detail and explaining why every step is important, and well demonstrated with just the right camera angles.
Well done Stu, I've watched two of your videos thus far (The "How to lay bricks for beginner") and this one. I thoroughly enjoyed them both, and they kept my attention span throughout. Well presented and explained including the pitch, tone, and pace. Well done bro. Now looking forward to catching up on the rest. I've learnt a lot and a refreshment follow up to a course I took several years ago. Thank you.
Great way of teaching. Nice to learn the angles, and approaches to getting the mortar just right. Haven't done a lot of bricking but always have trouble with buttering the ends and wondered why. Now I know. Thanks to the best bricky ever.
well done dear, this is one of best video you can see on KZread, minute details, every second of worth watching . especially if you like clean job

Your videos are awesome, Stu. I have no idea what I’m doing but I want to learn, and your instruction is top-notch. Easy to follow, great amount of detail. Thank you! When you’re done with your practice “stack,” do you tear it down immediately or is there some cool trick to clean it up after it sets? Might be a dumb question but I figured I’d ask anyways. Thanks again!
Great lesson thank you

Stu you are a Legend.
Hi Stu, thanks for this video. I would be interested in watching a video from you about different brick types. What are the different types of brick, and what are their different uses? What's the difference between a good brick and bad brick? Cheap brick Vs expensive. Just a suggestion for a future video. Cheers

Brilliant Video Stu! Love watching your content. Given me the confidence to do some repairs to a garden wall of mine. However I can never get the mix to be as "smooth" as yours? 4:1 with plasticiser and some water. But never spreads the same as how your mortar does. Also find that if I place a brick (engineer brick) and try to tap it down to place, if I then try to remove the brick to redo it, the compressed mortar feels like it lost lots of moisture and can't be reused. Is that normal? Thanks, really appreciate all your great content and hope to learn more :)

hi bud, not all sand is the same, there ar many different grades and types, thanks for watching mate
Hi Stu, since Christmas I now use a Marshalltown trowel like yours but it’s got a funny coating on it which the mortar clings to. It’s starting to wear off and the uncoated part is much better. Any tips on how to get it off quick or does it just come off in time with use?
🧱🧱Thank you for the lesson 🧱🧱
You is THEE BOSS
Superb
Nice job, Sir I have a question, my question is that necessary to make the brick fence double? Because I used to see some bricklayers join double fence,, thank you
How do you calculate and maintain the dimensions and length of a Brick Wall? How are the dimensions and length of a Brick Wall arrived at so that it will work out to a perfect number of whole bricks without having to saw or to shorten a brick or having to plug a two inch hole at the end of the brick wall? As you are making the first run of the Brick Wall; placing brick, mortar, brick, mortar, brick, mortar; how do you keep the length of the brick run in compliance with the theoretical length and dimensions of the brick wall? A slight increase or decrease in the width of the mortar joints will increase or decrease the overall length of the brick wall causing you to saw or to shorten a whole brick or having to plug a two inch hole at the end of the brick wall.
What size of trowel do you recommend for beginners? Marshalltown do a 10, 11 or 12 inch, London, Philadelphia etc.
Sehr gut 👍
Great video. Do you sell Cornish Pasties?
Been looking on your channel as it's pretty in depth content (Brilliant btw). Can't find anything on laying blocks onto an existing concrete base. I have one from the previous owner but it doesn't look level. I was thinking about building my own shed. As wooden and metal ones are crap.......help......please .
You make it look so easy! 😁 I have a question, what are the measurements of those bricks?
@Stucrompton1

I'm young & learning, I have a question if it's ok, Can I use clay three holed bricks to forge metals or is it a bad idea ????
Hi Stu, are you taking any jobs in Warrington? Thanks.
Tenks. Good job. Tenks fron Spanish.
Stu am looking.to build man cave 7m x3m but i dont want peirs so i can board right onto block what block should i be getting
Use your trowel to smooth out the top of your mortar pile then with the tip of your trowel make about a 3 inch long slice into the mortar then push your trowel under the slice and push down on the handle of your trowel slowly to bring up the tip of your trowel that's under the slice. Your welcome.
Doing my apprenticeship and course the thing I find difficult is the trowel having command over that is hard man.
What do you do if you have to rebuild an old wall, with built up levels either side of it, say concrete one side and a patio and concrete steps/path the other side? Do you need to smash everything, to bring the levels down and relay the foundation footing?🤷♀️😭😭🤣❤️
You have not showed rebar in the wall is it necessary or not. If yes why and how. Please guide me. I am confused by watching few videos where builder build the wall and it fall down with one push while they were planning to make roofing 😮
Could you show how to mix mortar by hand please obviously with a spade
👌
👌👍
Класс👍👍👍
Hey. Since when did you bricklaying and is this your job (are you a bricklayer?) or is it only a hobby?
Добротный цемент
I’ve been binge watching bricklaying vids but I started with yours and now I’m confused because the other guys I’m watching don’t butter the bricks or prep the mortar the way you do,they just lay the mortar down down and place the bricks
It will be more useful if you specify the dimensions (especially the width) of the bricks that you use
😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
I need to lay 4 bricks. Great video, completely wasted my time thanks mate
I'm 35 and in desperate need of getting out of my dead end office job and find myself drawn towards bricklaying. Is bricklaying a good career? Is there much money in it? Is there still work out there

It depends where you are in Ontario they need bricklayers so they’ll train you. If you join a union the full rate bricklayer can make a little more than 100k a year

What is the width of bricks in England? Because the width of the block, as far as I know, is 10 centimeters. Sorry if the google translator doesn't translate correctly.

@@Stucrompton1 Thanks for the answer. In our country, the standard is a width of 120 millimeters. Almost 20% bigger and heavier. I like the English technology of building houses without concrete plinths on the foundation. The house seems to grow out of the ground) Many of your videos help to understand the nuances of technology. Thank!
