How to Knot Pearls - Restring Broken Necklace

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My grandmother's pearl necklace was getting ratty and falling apart, so I decided to restring it before it broke and I risked losing a pearl. I went ahead and recorded the process for those who are interested in learning how to do this.

    Thank you! My Grandmother gifted her pearls to me before she passed away last year and my toddler broke the string the first time I wore them. I don’t want to leave a family heirloom with a stranger and your tutorial makes the restringing process look very simple.

    WOW. Why didn't any of the women in my family teach me this, or even someone in school? Thank goodness for streaming video. I've never seen a knotting tool in my life. This is AWESOME. Thank you!

    I'm so grateful for this tutorial. Thank you. I wanted to have my grandmother's pearls restrung but every jeweler I went to does not let you observe the process. I even had one scold me on the phone. This is the only thing I have from her and I can't stand the thought of something happening to them. Thank you for sharing how to do this in such a clear and simple way..

    As a jeweler, I cannot imagine having a customer watch me restring their necklace because they didn't trust me to do the job correctly. I'm glad you were able to do it yourself.

    I went to a jeweller I knew to get a heavy semi precious gemstone necklace done too. He sent it to his re-beader who, he said, had more patience to do the job and they did a good job.

    Awesome tutorial! 👍 I was thinking a dental pick would work until I saw you follow through with your handy-dandy tool. This is just what I needed to know. Thank you so much! 😊 PS- I like your idea of threading all the beads on first because you can tie a knot at the end to keep them from falling off. 👍

  • @AngelaHepp

    @AngelaHepp

    Nancy Meck It depends on the size of the holes in your beads. I'm not an expert, but I think the holes in pearls are usually smaller than in other beads, so you'd want to go for a smaller needle.

    Take tiny scissors (jewelry scissors or even nail scissors), being careful not to scratch the pearls, and snip the cord in between each bead. That should work! If there's thread stuck inside the pearl, you can poke it out with a beading needle.
