    Thank you! I have been a fine jeweler for my whole career but have avoided pearl stringing for the longest time. The person who strung for us is gone so I had to take matters into my hands. Much appreciated!

    Excellent demonstration! This is the ideal video for making durable pearl necklaces using affordable materials like silk thread, tweezers and bead tips. The other videos on youtube weren't explaining the right technique for making pearl necklaces and they were using expensive tools. At last I found this video. Thank you very much for this video!!!

    Oh you make this look SO simple, easy, peasy, tie the knot & squeezy . . .so why do I have the feeling that my stress levels are rising as I watch the video getting closer to the end ?! Seriously though, great tutorial as always, I’m needing to get this knot thing down pat, so I hope I can follow it and have mine looking as great as yours. Oh and I loved the little mini clam shell demo too. Cheers from NZ 👍💜💙

    Thanks for sharing. I just started hand knotting and have messed up a few times. But I'm not a quitter so I finally got the technique down pretty well. You are so right when you say that the more you knot, the better you get. I like using the tweezers but I also like using the awl to get the knot where I want it and I use the tweezers to push the knot down against the bead. Your video is very well made and I found it very easy to follow. I knotted pearls and I knotted some pink quartz beads so far. I'm liking it and will be knotting a lot of other gemstones and different color pearls.

    @zoetic26 I am so glad you like the video. The amount of thread you will need will depend upon how large the pearls you are using are and the total length of the necklace. As a general guideline, give yourself at least double the length of your necklace. So for a 16" pearl necklace, you will want at least 32" just for the necklace and then allow yourself extra for the clasp and to have room to comfortably work.

    Thanks for the informative video. I'm not into beading, but I came to KZread looking for "knotting with tweezers" because I am into sewing, and sometimes I have a need to tie such a knot. Another thing: You showed making two overhand knots for insertion into the clamshell. There's a knot used in sailing that's called the stop knot, also known as the figure 8 knot. That knot can be made quite large if one wants that kind of "stopper," and I think it'd serve you for use in the clamshell. There's an app, BTW, on knots called Grog's Knots, and it is a very amazing app. Check it out.

    @Beadaholique I would suggest giving yourself 40" for a 16" necklace. If your pearls are large, you will not need this much but it is always to error on the side of caution.

    Thank you. Excellent video. Used your video to make three bracelets that I've been planning to make for years. I'm throwing away the knotting tool that I had purchased a knotting tool from firemountain and tried to use and it just kept coming apart (head shifted) and the lubricant kept discoloring the silk, so contaminated it. Dirty. (No resolution from firemountain either.).

  • @beadaholique

    @beadaholique

    9 жыл бұрын

    tbkk100 You can experiment with other threads and cords but be cautious that a lot of them will either not fit through the hole of the pearl or could be cut by the roughness of the pearl. Griffin Silk is often used because it is easy to get through the hole, it is strong, and it cushions each pearl. www.beadaholique.com/c-60385-beading-thread-and-cord.aspx?KZread&
