My partner and I are Kiwis living in New Zealand but he grew up in Iceland until his twenties. His heart, children, grandchildren are in Iceland. We cannot travel there yet, so I am determined to soothe his heart by attempting to knit an Icelandic sweater for him. Your videos have given me the confidence to just do it. Thanks so much!

I did enjoy this video and the music also and I can easily follow your video but I think people do need to have a little knowledge on knitting for it to really be a “beginners guide”. To me it’s it is more like a “knitters guide to beginning knitting Icelandic sweaters”. I have knitted many year including in the round and colour work I am not sure any real beginner would find it so easy so they may need to go and learn a few basics first but we’ll worth it to make these type of garments.

Agree 100% I’ve knitted for years and many sweaters but I’m completely lost right from the cast on....half the stitches?...then picking up 3 rows below or something, maybe I’m having a dumb day, I’ll try another day lol.

I really appreciate that you go step by step with patterns on your channel. I live in the Midwest region of the US and knitting isn’t very popular here. In fact, I don’t know anyone personally who knits. So it’s kind of impossible for me to ask questions when I don’t understand something about a knitting pattern. Your videos have inspired me and given me the courage to make more than just hats, socks and mittens. 😂 I’m no longer scared! Thank you!!!

I am enjoying knitting your pattern, but I have just come to review your video and I realize the pattern I downloaded is different from what you are doing on here! On my pattern, there is no step to increase 6 stitches evenly after the bottom rib band on the body! I have already knit the body without those increases. Did the pattern get changed or was it somehow omitted in my copy?

My concern is now getting to the yoke, the pattern may be off. However, interestingly, the number of stitches is correct! You say I should have 208 when sleeves are joined to body to start the yoke and that is the number that I have. The 208 divides evenly into the 8 stitch pattern repeat, so it looks like I will be fine. I'm just confused by the difference in my pattern and yours! 😅 Am I doing it right? I hope so. It is a really nice pattern!

@@reneeneary3674 Hi! You´re right, the pattern had slightly been changed to make it more convenient to knit for all sizes :) The previous one was a bit of a pain in the neck to adjust. But the creating process is like this, needs some unraveling moments and starts again.

Thanks but I couldn’t understand how many stitches you add and I couldn’t understand why don’t you use the circular needles The especially when you take the stitches in the beginning after you use different yarn colour which stitch you take it and put it in the needle

I am learning to knit with the continental way of holding the yarn on the fingers of the left hand. I see you do purl differently. I need to see it more slowly.

Please can you not use a circular needle for the sleeves because the double pointed needles are just to hard for a beginner like me. I know that there are knitters who use only circular needles for the sleeves as well.
