A good idea is to use a genuine JIS Phillips screwdriver. JIS stands for Japanese Industrial Standard and it fits the screws a lot better, therefore lowering the risk of stripping the phillips head screws.

What jet sizes would you use for 7000feet in elevation for the pilot and main jet? Loved the in depth how to video

It would depend on what's on the bike, but that high, I'd start with the stock 35/75 if the bike has a pipe and intake. I doubt seriously it would want more brass at elevation.

Thanks for this video, on a stock everything, what would be my advantage to change the slow jet from a 35 to a 38? And should I also increase the main 75 and to what, and what will it improve?

If you are stock, I would not change a thing. If your are running an intake and pipe then a rejet is necessary.

hey great video! I was wondering what you recommend for a stock rockus. I always felt they ran a bit lean for maximum economy based on plug color. have you ever tried jetting a stock rockus and noticed a change after bigger jets where installed I not care about fuel economy. I have been thinking about adding a aftermarket exhaust I want to see if I can find something to add a little deep tone to the sound of the bike with almost stock db levels so I guess my question is a 2 parter lol.

We've always found stock jetting to work best on a stock Ruckus. The Yoshimura is quieter than most aftermarket exhausts, though quiet a bit throatier than stock.

thanks for your super fast response I have looked at a lot of the exhaust systems and I can never get a db ratings on any of them other then for the hmf it says its 94-96 db's would you know what the yosh is and also would you know what a stock exhaust is to gauge the difference.

Most don't publish db #'s, but I can say from experience, the Yosh is far better than most, if you're looking for a system that's not overly obnoxious.

Great video, Can you tell me if there is a passage below the main jet that might get clogged. I pulled the carb on my 07 ruckus that had sat for a year. Cleaned both jets and reassembled. It idles great, but won't go above 15 mph. When I give it gas it kicks down to idle. I've re-set the diaphragm 3 times thinking that was the problem, but no go. Thank you in advance!

You can disassemble and clean in an ultrasonic bath, but keep in mind your old gas will also effect the fuel filer, lines, etc...

Do I need to adjust the air/fuel screw after putting these on?

  • @mnnthbx

It's always best on any bike, to slowly turn the air screw to the point where it finds highest idle, then back it down just SLIGHTLY off of that mark.

Hey, thank you for the video. Very helpful! Quick question, I am installing a new exhaust and i will most likely need to re-jet it, do i have to change the slow and the main or just the main? Also, how to I know what size I have installed? I cant seem to find it on the part itself. Thank you!

There's no answer, as it all requires testing based on the bike an location, but we can give you a starting point. If it's all stock except the exhaust, I'd go 35/78. If it has an intake as well, start at 38/80. If it's a stock bike, it has 35/75 currently.

Ultimately, you'll have to test several jets. I would probably drop the main to the 78. I'm guessing that will be spot on.

+Patrick Garcia Hard to say without seeing it in person. Rule # 1 when turning soft brass, is to use a screwdriver that fits correctly. You may be able to work it out with another driver, or an easy out. Make sure to disassemble and clean the carb when finished, as you don't want debris in there.

I'm really confused why you'd make a cosmetic change on a part that can't be seen once the Ruckus is put back together. On mine at least, you can't even glimpse the carb once it's put back together.

It's not jetting the carb that is intimidating it's pulling the carb off, and putting it back on and adjusting it to run right, why don't someone do a video on how to do that.

+mnnthbx Haha yes I know the sticker is very important to make more power for my Ruckus. But they work just as well for both HP and TQ on my toolbox so that's where I put all mine. Been working out great so far!
