Young man, you are a gem! That was a hell of a lot of effort in troubleshooting to resolve that issue, and I have a brand new 2024 and the thing won't turn over and it has been sitting in a heated office on a battery tender, and the thing simply won't turn over? I'm selling it, I'll never buy another. By contrast, my Ducati XDiavel S is eight years old in the exact same conditions without a battery tender, and it fires right up every single time, even in 28° weather.

Nice vid. I had similar issues. The tiny pilot jet was constantly clogging. New jets installed, fuel filter cleaned, drained and rinsed crud out of the tank. **also stopped running regular gas** switched to premium 91 octane, not because of the higher octane, but rather because the 91 octane has much less percentage of “corn syrup” (aka ethanol) in it. The ethanol imo is what is breaking down and gumming up the tiny pilot jet in the Ruckus. My 04 Ruckus is now back to its reliable old self.

Awesome video! I had to do this like 9 years ago but forgot and after about a million other videos I watched this and remembered it. My ruk had spark & fuel but it would not turn over. I was so baffled and was considering riding it off a cliff but I couldn't cuz it wouldn't start. Your video saved me from going 100% mental and I don't know why there is nothing about resetting your computer in almost every carb cleaning vid. Just got a 2012 ruckus for free! one owner only 13k miles and a clean title lol, gonna try to go through all these steps sometime soon to see if I can get mine running , the guy said the motor was making a ticking noise so I took the motor apart, don’t see anything wrong with it, so ima put it back together and start trying to get it to run for myself so maybe I can hear what he’s talking about

That ticking noise is either the valves or the fuel pump I'm willing to bet it's the fuel pump at 13k its probably time for a new one

Wow, thanks a bunch Jackson. The video was super clear, informative, and easy to follow along. I learned quite a bit on my journey to being able to strip my Honda metropolitan apart and put it back together. I downloaded the manual from the link you provided but am still struggling to find one for my scooter which is a 2008 chf50 metropolitan or Jazz as they named it in Canada. Any link for a download to that manual? That would be super fantastic if you did or new where I could possibly track one down. Thanks again and keep up rhe good work. Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks for the feedback! It took me a little while to find a manual for my model. I just googled “Honda Ruckus service manual” and searched through the depths of Google. I’m sure there are plenty of paid ones too. I’ll certainly keep an eye out

I tried resetting the ECM before replacing the idle jet and fuel pump with no luck. But it's worth a try since it's so simple.

I wish you would come over and fix mine....it has been sitting in the pole barn for 2yrs.......t only has 2800 miles......I am not mechanical.

I have a ruckus with about 540 miles, i did let it seat for maybe a month or two, and I have the same issue, it only stays on if, I open up the throttle with starting it, but also dies as I let go of it, it won't stay idling. I hope this is my issue/solution in this videos. Thanks.

is it possible to jump start the battery from a car? Mine just stopped starting. It was running earlier today and now nothing. The lights go on but I hear a click. Any suggestions?

The battery sounds dead, it has enough voltage to run the lights but not the starter. Yes, you can connect jumper cables from a car battery to the bike’s battery, but just don’t start the car. Don’t want to risk blowing something up. Alternatively you can purchase a $40 battery tender to keep it charged while you troubleshoot

Just rinsed it with the hose and let it dry in the sun

where did you get the cable used at 5:54 in the video my be a stupid question but I cleaned my carb and unplugged those electrical ports so I believe that all there is left to do is for me to reset the computer. Thank you!

It's just a piece of electrical wire I had laying around. I stripped the two ends to expose the wire and bridge those connections. Just make sure the wire isn't too thin.

Make sure the battery isn’t dead. Even if the lights come on the battery may not have enough cranking amps. Install a fresh battery and try. There’s also a kick starter. I also found it helpful to put a trickle charger on the battery while I diagnosed so that it wouldn’t go dead

Hey bro I need help

Shit mine runs but as soon as I give it throttle, it stalls. Brand new carb, fuel pump and filter. Lines are fine. Battery is newish. It sat for a long time and only has 346 miles on it. I got it new at my vacation home which is now my perm home in 2013

I have a 2017 Ruckus, new battery, new air filter. Haven’t changed the fuel pump. I was just driving it. Started up Jo problem. Then was sitting idle and died. Won’t start. No sound. Nothing. Full gas tank. Ugh

That could be a fuel pump, but I'd first check the fuses. Listen for a click from the fuel pump relay when you turn the key. If you hear a click, listen for the fuel pump priming.

@@jacksonlheureux Thanks it started up after letting it sit for an hour. And now it's been starting and running okay. Do you think that could have been that maybe I flooded it or something like that? Also, for the past few years it won't get past 30 mph. When I first got it, it would hit 40-45. I have replaced the spark plugs, air filter, battery, had regular oil changes. I just havent replalced the fuel pump. Think that might be causing the less power? Thanks!

@@BrokeTheSeal yeah seems like it was flooded. I’ve found my ruckus will hit 45mph on a downhill. Wouldn’t hurt to replace the fuel pump, but I’d first reset the ECU

Switching to low ethanol fuel will help prevent the tiny jet from clogging.

Expert but too much for a beginner

Just jumped my ruckus with my jeep, now I can’t start it without jumping. Bought a trickle charger, hope I didn’t burn out the electric components with the jeep jump

As long as the car wasn't running, you can usually jump a motorcycle battery with a car battery. Good luck.
