    This might be overly obvious, but you want the spring stretched/tensioned when the trunk lid is shut so that when opened/tension is released, and it will return to neutral state in the opened lid position. Closing the lid will tension the spring again, ready to spring open. The positioning of the end points in the trunk need to ensure the closed position creates tension. Accordingly, it is not necessary to tension the spring in the open installation position as long as closing the lid will in fact extend/tension the springs.

  • @Andrewsautofreakz

    @Andrewsautofreakz

    2 жыл бұрын

    Indeed you don't have to tension however tightening it in the beginning will help so that the spring is not loose when they is no tension if not it will fall off easily. Thanks for the advice truly appreciate it. Appreciate the support

    Shahril Izwan I'm not too sure. There should be an anchor point but if not then I'm not too sure myself

    The ring didn't hold up on mine, it completely bent and snapped. Gonna try a stronger ring.

    I guess it's due to the quality. But the ring is not hard to get and replace. You can use a old Keychain ring

    There was very little tension on that spring and the trunk lid came up fast, should have just went to local hardware store found a spring for a couple dollars the length you need and pull it down with a pair of pliers, that would never work on my car I have a 67 Dodge Dart that spring is to wimpy!!

    I just saw your video and was wondering what made you install these springs. I see in the video that your trunk lid torsion bars are there. Was one of them broken and that's why the lid doesn't fully open? My Elantra has one broken and it does not open completely. Thank you.

    ismaelyt09 the bars are there but mine doesn't fully open automatically. Nothin wrong with it. It's just like that hence why I had the idea to install spring to fully automatically

    I've been using a wooden dowel that u bought from the hardware store to keep my trunk open but it is embarrassing😆 the metal rod that helps keep the trunk open snapped and now my trunk won't stay open on its own.
