For example, I am looking to track the appointments booked for a service but when customers are going to book they are redirected of my main site on to a third party domain. Not sure how to track the actions taken once they are on that third party domain. Thank you man for everything you do!

Ok, simple as a plugin, which in reality is often not really the case. What are the DSVGO implications here? Or is the Conversion API immune to those laws and we don't need to check if some sort of consent is given before using the CAPI?

If I already installed Pixel using GTM, will that affect the data?

Do you first have to set up a conversion API somewhere in FB Manager? I do not see the Meta Advanced Configuration when I set up this plugin...

Hi Ben, thanks for your great videos! I recently had a call with our Meta Marketing Pro and she informed me that the Pixel will be gone next year (we are in Germany / EU) and suggested we get the conversions API setup. Will the conversions API replace the Pixel as such? Cheers D

It's always been a both, as opposed to a replacement. But if the Pixel is being retired (which I doubt) then having CAPI set up becomes more important.

If you then convert people via messaging then no you don't need it. If people go onto your website afterwards to convert then yes I would set it up.

Ben… I've been told how, post-iOS update, there're more things that need to be done when setting up the "Conversion API"… than just installing the FB-Pixel itself. FB-Pixel can't track people after they leave the FB-app. No? PS 1. What is "Aggregated event"… & 2. How do we re-target people who've taken particular steps (in our funnel)… or visited particular pages of our website?

So that used to be true but Meta have retired Aggregated Event Measurement so you don’t need to worry about it. There are a number of ways to retarget. It check out my vids on retargeting. I think you’ll find them helpful.

Is here any other way of installing the conversion API. Meta Pixels causes so many conflicts and issues in my website. I use a different plugin called pixel my site but that too is unable to send details to make my Event Match quality better. Any good plugins or suggestions?? And how have you personally configured pixels and conversion API?

You have to set up CAPI with Google Tag manager by dynamically sending event parameters. And after that you have to improve event match quality & deduplication setup to get exact data.

Hi Ben, is it common that the website conversion tracking is imprecise even when API conversion is installed properly? I have it installed for months and it always counts much more leads than the actual ones In this scenario do you suggest using a specific tracking software that feeds back the information directly on Meta? Or it’s just that my API and Pixel tracking are poorly installed? I also have google analytics in place

You may need to configure your events within Meta which will help deduplicate conversions. Just a case of ticking a few boxes. You'll see when you configure that Meta has a "best practice" which isn't set up by default, tracking important things for deduplication like event ID, and user variables.

Thanks for the installation guide Ben… But I've been struggling to find any 'well-organized' video or blog that tells us how to exactly set-up the backend (Pixel and all) for targeting people visiting specific websites of our funnel. I read a blog for how FB took down "limit of 8" in "Aggregated events" … (or something like that). But i don't know what it is supposed to mean. It'll be awesome if you could maybe make a video guiding us through what to do after installing the Pixel and how to target those people, specially since Pixel-data is ruined for iOS users. (& also what are the changes that FB has brought along) btw I absolutely love your name :) Booked a strategy session for later this week. Looking forward to working together :)

You can install it with GTM instead. I think most people will find it easier with direct integrations like I demonstrated.

Our organisation is highly against this, with fear for going around gdpr-rules. Im not really able to explain how this is ok, the questions are "but if the ios users has said no to be trycker, then we should not ignore it and install the Capi"? How is this different 😢😢

I know this is old but Google had this nugget of an answer should it be helpful to anyone else: The API is independent from the use of third-party cookies, making it obedient to GDPR specifications. Instead of tracking user activity and sending data through a web browser, this tool transfers the data through a server using a unique ID.

Does this apply for windows computers?

Meta support docs on that. It really depends on your website set up. If you aren't technical, I'd recommend hiring someone to do it for you.

For the shopify website you have to enable datalayer by custom code & the purchase event will enable with code. Then by the Google tag manager & Google analytics set all the tags with dynamic parameters.
