How to install Levolor blinds and review of Blinds.com

This is a short video detailing how to install Levolor blinds from Blinds.com. These are the 2 in faux wood blinds that we custom-ordered. Blinds.com takes the order and has Levolor make them and then they are shipped directly from the Levolor factory. The blinds arrived individually wrapped and packaged in their own box. They were not wrapped inside the box but had foam packing that secured them. I had one little issue which was one of the blinds was the wrong size. I called Blinds.com and they told me they would ship me out a new one and for me to donate the old one. It does take a few weeks to get them because the factory has to cut these to size. You can order standard sizes and get them quicker. It is good to take a couple measurements verticle and horizontal and take the smallest size to ensure your blinds fit if you do the custom ones.
Thanks for watching.

    CB's Greenhouse and Garden Thanks CB. It was pretty easy and getting them the custom lenght was way better than the last house where I cut them and adjusted the length myself.

    Thanks Dan. I finally got into our new house so I got lots of stuff like this to do. I still got to hang my wildlife mounts (deer, ducks, etc.) and pictures. I got lots to do to my yard too. I got to make some time to do some cooking vids though. Ya know a southern boy gots to eat haha. I don't have internet quite yet so I am backed up on watching. Trying to get caught up now! Later buddy!

    Carolina Chris Outdoors I stressed about hanging them but really it was pretty easy. I knew I could do it but just takes me some time to start stuff sometimes. They seem to be pretty nice though. Lots more metal than previous ones I had.

    Thanks Ryan. They can be a pain in the rumpus but I think what made these nice was that the company sent good screws. Most send these cheap, soft, Phillips head screws that will strip or break on you. Thanks for watching buddy.

    I just wanted to say that I found a better way to install the molding. The plastic clips eventually fail on these molding pieces, it's an inevitability. So what you can do is buy 60X10X3 mm Rare Earth Magnets from Amazon or wherever you choose and just push them into the grooves on the back of the molding. 2-3 magnets and the molding will never fall off again. The 60X10X3 mm magnets fit perfectly into the groove.

    I haven’t had an issue with mine falling off but if it does, I’ll keep this in mind. I used to use rare earth magnets when I installed alarms systems. Great uses! Thanks for

    Haha, these were not too bad. I hung 16 blinds this afternoon. I think the hex head screws they sent made it a lot easier. I had already told myself that if they sent the cheap Phillips head screws like some companies send I was going to buy some better ones. A lot of times the screws they send are a very soft metal and they break or strip really easy. These blinds were made very well too. I was really happy with the purchase. Hopefully, they will last. I appreciate you stopping by!

    Great video. I'm excited to install my blinds. Do most people install their blinds all the way inside the sill up against the window (recessed) or flush with the pocket and the wall? My house doesn't have window sill molding. It is drywall in the pocket.

  • @SouthernFoodJunkie

    @SouthernFoodJunkie

    I think it’s more of a preference of what you like. I wanted mine recessed do they are flush with the window recess. You can tuck them back in there if you like.

    Southern Food Junkie My first blind gave me problems. I installed the mounts flush to the corner of the window pocket. My drill could not drill straight into the top hole because of the width of the drill. It made the bracket install slightly angled downwards. I removed the drywall anchor and Instead used a coated sinker nail to pound into the stud that was behind the drywall. I did that for the top hole only and used the anchor and screw for the bottom hole of each bracket. The levolor blinds did not indicate which side was front and which side was facing the window. I also have a 70 inch wide window and the instructions for installing the center bracket are vague at best. I'm going to call levolor tomorrow to ask about it. The last thing I want is the center bracket to not line up properly with the two end brackets.

  • @SouthernFoodJunkie

    @@peabarter_3074 One way to fix the issue with the drill pushing your bracket out is to get a longer phillips head bit. They make them in different lengths. Pre-Drill your holes with a small drill bit them use the long Phillips head drill bit to install them. I didn't have to use the center bracket but if you mounted the two sides ones flush with window sill, it makes it easy to mount that too. Just mount it flush with the window sill as well.

    I recently had Levolor 2 1/2 inch faux wood blinds installed by Lowes but they don't seem to close all the way theres like a 1/2 - 1 inch gap,is that normal?
