    Lololol! I wish I would've seen this video 2 weeks ago! -32° here in Louisville, KY. at Christmas. My furnace finally gave up and died. ... (R.I.P.). Despite having water running throughout my house, my pipes froze , and BUSTED. Yep, when it rains it pours! Furnace man coming today, hopefully, plummer this weekend!! Fingers crossed! I'm gonna ask my plummer about this tape! Thanks again! 👍😘🥰

    Don't forget that in many locations, and also for the tape itself, they insist on having it plugged into a GFI circuit Outlet.

  • @readytemp35
    @readytemp357 жыл бұрын

    Heat tape works great for short distances and last 2+ years. Installation can be a heck of a job(crawling under the home, etc.). ReadyTemp uses intermittently warm water circulating through both the hot and cold water lines to prevent the pipes from freezing. Using a fraction of the energy consumed by heat tape and last 8 to 10 years with no annual inspections required. The effectiveness and minimal energy lost to outside air is obvious. Installs under the sink in 20 minutes using 4 hoses, than just plug it in.

    my electrician just installed heat tape the regular type orange black with a Thermostat with w black dot , so when he left I looked at the plug and it lights , he put round foam insulation around the pipe going up into the mobile home , yet at the end he just laid the extra heat wire over a shut off valve very very loosely and not tapped either and the black dot hanging down not taped to the pipe , he said by not tapping it to the pipe its better because it measures the outside temperature and goes on and off . is this OK

    I wondering if anybody can help me understand something. I’ve recently bought a trailer and the previous owner put the water pipes inside and he installed heat tape on the pipes, is it necessary to have it plugged in all winter long? He never paid for gas so the trailer was apparently freezing so maybe that’s why he put them inside and with heat tape of them?

    Im not trying to be an ass but pex manufacturers state to NEVER use adhesives on pex pipe as the chemicals embed in the plastic and over time will leach into your water supply. There are diff tapes with diff temps obviously but youre better off securring the heat tape,cable etc by using wire ties. If using metal straps you can protect the heat strip and pipe by using heat shrink tubing over the strap that contacts those surfaces.

    First time even living in a mobile home. Heat tape was all bad under it. Looks like you used the Frost King tape which is all they sell around here. My question comes in here with the insulation. Don't call Frost King unless you want to talk to idiots. And FYI i have the gray tubing. Question is all the hardware stores here say i could use the 1/8 in Armaflex wrap or the 3 in x 30 ft x 1 in foil fiberglass wrap. Well Frost King says NO to using their tape on Mobile home and NO to the foil wrap that is 1" has to be 1/2" thick and NO to the Armaflex. R value is to high. Help!!! I have Both wraps is any of them ok to use as the Support help is across the dam ocean and i could tell they was reading it off the dam card. Thanks in advance for your time.

    Yes. SOME of them can. Read the instructions. I have EASYHEAT freeze free. It says you can overlap it. Most of the heat tapes are only for supply lines. The one I have can be used on supply lines or on drain lines. Most can not be used on drain lines, there has to be water in the lines or the heater will overheat and burn through. Most you cannot overlap because they will over heat and burn through. Read the instructions and/or call the manufacturer or distributor. Be safe, they can burn your house down.

    @@rlr4294 "Most manufacturers wont you to replace it each year." No offense but that's nuts and completely unnecessary, unless of course someone cross-spiraled to the Nth degree and/or lost functionality of the self-regulating thermostat. I've installed thousands of feet of tape for 30+ years. I've NEVER had to replace a single run. Spiraling sparingly is absolutely fine. If overlapping in a single spot or two like an outside spigot tee'd off the same line, just put a little piece of pipe foam between overlap if you want.

    Heat tape?.......that looks like an electrical cable.......oh, wait....the electrical cable is attached to the pipe with black electrical tape......mmmmmm.......maybe that's the tape...... Anyway........the pipe comes out of the ground, through a main house valve and then into the house......where do you place the thermostat?.......right where the pipe comes out of the ground, in the middle of the pipe or right before it enters the house? Also, what "brand" is the electrical tape you're using?
