Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today I set up the new Fortune Auto 510 coil-overs on the BMW 128i with a step by step tutorial of how to install everything correctly including bump stop limits, spring preload, take-up springs, ride height, compression travel, and droop travel.

Good video and great to see someone considering bump to droop ratio when setting up coilovers as this is rarely ever considered usually. Personally I aim for 2/3 bump and 1/3 droop travel which is a generally more accepted ratio for track work. Also worth noting that once you've set this ratio you should only really alter ride height via the spring perch rather than the lower shock body as doing this will alter the bump/droop ratio again. Suspension secrets have a very good article about this on their website that is worth a read.

Ride height should be adjusted on the lower perch, but yes, it will change the bump stop limit. Could be changed on the spring perch as well, but that changes your bump/droop ratio. All needs to be considered when making changes.

@@KrebsbachRacing so the way I do it is to figure out my ride height first, mark on the damper rod where the 2/3 total bump travel is then with the spring removed set that mark to the top of the coilover body with the hub jacked to the desired ride height. Then refit the spring and adjust to the desired ride height using the spring perch only. This gets me back to the desired ride height whilst maintaining the exact bump/droop ratio I wanted. Obviously this falls down if the desired ratio doesn't give enough wheel / bumpstop clearence when compressed, but luckily I've not had that yet
