Whirlpool should give this man a royalty. Like many others, a big factor for selecting this was that someone made a good full video. Luckily I was replacing a unit so this matched up in size. I was able to reuse the holes from the original bracket and just had to drill new holes for the top cabinet to the microwave. I didnt even look at the instructions and just followed this video. thanks

This is the best video on how to install a Whirlpool Over-the-Range microwave with roof-venting. His explanations and instructions are easy to follow. The picture quality is excellent and one can clearly see everything he does, including unpacking, collecting the tools needed, making the markings, finding the stud, using the template, etc. There is no guesswork here. Using these instructions I could install my Whirlpool WMH53521HZ microwave. Although, my model is different, the instructions and techniques shown in this video did the job for me. A big thanks and Thumps-up for Borsellino!

I observed your able assistant almost suffered a skull fracture as you performed your job briefing. And you gave her the heavy end to lift!! I will be replacing a Hotpoint unit that we installed 17 years ago. I have slept since then and since I am 74 years old and my assistant is 72 we will proceed at a slower pace. Of course there is more to the story but it is WAY past my bedtime. Another day. Stay Safe, Healthy and God Bless! Patty

BHS - this video was awesome! Had purchased this unit direct from Whirlpool with installation (decided to cut myself a break). My installation has a roof vent and was a replacement of an older Whirlpool unit. Installers were total morons - damaged my top cabinet, damaged the microwave, tried to convince me that this unit wouldn't top vent, and then tried to leave the unit here for me to deal with. Explained to them (convincingly) that they were not going to leave my property unless the damaged unit was on their truck. I bought another one from Menards - display model, no box. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Whirlpool and another 90 minutes on a live chat with them trying to get the measurements for the vent cutout, mounting holes and placement of the support rail. Got nowhere - was ready to start hassling Whirlpool HQ, when I found your video - you saved the day!! For the benefit of your followers - here are the measurements: 1. Mounting rail (goes on back wall - centered, 17-5/16" from the bottom of the mounting rail to the BOTTOM of the cabinet (this is also the top of the microwave unit - if the top goes up against bracing below the top cabinet bottom, you'll measure to the bottom of the bracing. The measurement is 15-5/8" if you're measuring from the bottom of the cabinet to the TOP of the mounting rail. 2. Vent cutout - 12-1/2" x 4-3/4" - centered (6-1/4" on either side of the center line) and 1" from the back wall. 3. Power cord hole (1-1/2" hole) - 6-3/8" to right of center line and 6-1/2" from back wall. 4. Holes in top cabinet (for mounting screws) - Hole D - 12-1/2" to left of centerline & 10" from back wall Hole E - 7-1/2" to right of centerline & 10" from back wall I had to improvise for the venting. Had existing 10 x 3.25 square duct that extended below the bottom of the cabinet. Had to cut it off (in the cabinet above the microwave and then modified a starter collar I got at Lowes (www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-3-25-in-x-10-in-Galvanized-Steel-Rectangular-Stack-Duct-Starting-Collar/1000230291?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-plb-_-ggl-_-LIA_PLB_171_Air-Circulation-_-1000230291-_-local-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=CjwKCAiAmuKbBhA2EiwAxQnt72B8NoZoUBup2IzjeVKfgCnacyQhommk9hBHsbhWidkjrYNuF7g2wxoCEQQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) so I could slide it up into the existing ductwork and then down over the new damper assembly on the microwave. My modifications were: 1. Straighten out the bent lip and tabs (so they were back to the 10 x 3.25 square shape - so they'd slide up the ducting) 2. Drill out the rivets and remove the pieces on the other end of it (so it would slide nicely over the damper assembly) 3. Trim away the end (#2) so that it cleared the hinge/pivot of the damper flapper and wouldn't interfere with ti opening & closing. Once in place, I duct taped it to minimize air leaks. Again, you saved the day for me!

My GE microwave from 2005 finally crapped out. At first kzread.infoUgkxO_Bc204MGjxDl87cOKcdgaRhzSqGmv_g I was unsure because I was looking for something with the exact same features. Found it with this one. Interior space cavity was large, but the outside was smaller than my old one. I love the one-button push for 1-6 minutes, and the 30 second add or 30 second start. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I love how you can adjust the power level during cooking. The reviews said it could not be done, but this marked all the other boxes. and happy to say, it does. I can hit 1 minute start, and change the power level from 10 to 5, 30 seconds in, without interruption. my favorite feature!

Great video. Gave me some good insight. I bought a 6yo house with a Whirlpool microwave (wmh2175xvs) already installed. It appears the blowers are pointing the correct upward direction for outside ventilation because my outside wall vent louvers open when the vent is on. On the top of the microwave, just in front and under the cabinet to which it is attached, there are series of holes which I assume are used as the outgoing vent for when the microwave is configured to blow forward (recirculating). When I run the vent, there is a suction along these holes. Looking inside these holes, I see a dirty metal filter (not the filter under the microwave where air is drawn from the stove). 2 questions: Should I somehow remove this internal filter and clean it? It is not obvious just how to remove this filter without uninstalling the microwave. If these holes are used for the recirculating vent configuration (which I am not configured for), can I simply tape over these holes to force more suction on the underside of the microwave? Thanks in advance.

Honestly I don't know much about how they are build beyond this installation video. I'd say give it a shot! You can always take the tape off! And you'll find out pretty quickly if you start pulling it apart if there is a filter or not inside. Doesn't make sense to me that they would put a hidden filter though

So you rotate blower motor up for roof venting installation only. I don't have roof venting, so I'm assuming I'd have to do the wall venting installation. But wouldn't that just blow onto the wall? I don't have wall venting either on my wall. The microwaveI'm replacing had a vent in the front on top of the door. I don't think I understand what you're asking. Is it able to be installed rotated 180 degrees? As long as all the screws go into holes and the air moves in the right direction then it is installed right. If the vent is installed improperly you most likely won't have airflow, thus defeating the purpose of the vent. But again, I'm not fully sure what you're asking.
