Thank you for this video! I too have a GE microwave that I will be replacing with this same exact unit. As you indicated the hole for the power supply cord is in a different location. You dropped your install down a half inch or so and were able to use the same hole. Do you think you would of had enough space to reroute the cord if the unit was installed in the standard location? I don't have the proper bit size to drill the hole and would have to buy a paddle bit to drill the new hole. Thank you for this excellent video!!

What do you call the piece of metal you used to wrap the 2 x 4? I’m not sure what to look for.

Look at the IKEA NYTTIG piece. That’s what I originally had and took the metal from. Otherwise any box home improvement store will sell sheets or rolls of stainless or galvanized steel. Bending it might be the challenge though. Good luck!

I want to purchase this microwave however my current one that just went out has a circular vent at the top. Does this one have that option??

Just on memory now, I think it’s just a rectangular opening.

You mentioned that this is going to be a recirculating vent. Where does this unit vent? On the front, sides, top?

Hello- it blows out of the top, right behind the door seam. So the microwave needs to sit out about 1.5” to keep that vent clear. Good luck!

you dont need to make a exhaust hole to the exterior of the house ?

Hi @tinasiv2993 - no, you can recirculate into the same room. If you want the ability to exhaust outside, then you’d have to make a hole. Recirculating into the same room is okay. The only downside is if you’re using the fan to suck up smoke or smell, it doesn’t get rid of that air. It just gets a little filtering. That’s all.

I bought this off of fb marketplace not knowing it was over the range type of microwave 😅 can i use this by placing it on the top of the fridge?

Yeah, it would work fine that way, but the bottom isn’t really made to support the microwave well. It might be wobbly up there. If you’re ok with that, it should perform just fine. Obviously the light and hood fan will be of no use. Good luck!

At 10:49 I see that there is a hole across the top of the microwave. When I first saw that, I thought it was missing a piece. So that's the way it comes?

Yep, that’s normal. It’s actually where the vent fan blows out, unless you install the exterior exhaust kit.

Where is the hose that vents? Where does the exhaust go?

Self vented. That is tje default setting.

It sucks air up through the filters on the bottom and blows it out right above the door. That’s the default arrangement, but you can send the exhaust outside if you install some additional parts that come with it. I hope that helps

@@NashwaukSteve That it does! That clears up a lot. I have the hood and the accordion hose. I just have to figure out how to attach the hood.

When shutting the door it is so loud, very annoying

I installed mine in default recirculating mode. You’ll need to find a different video of you are venting externally.
