Post Office here told me that 42 inches from the bottom of the mail box to the ground is their policy, and as close to the road as possible without damaging any curbing or blacktop. Also just FYI on the video, any time you put a post in the ground and you are going to use concrete then just add a bit of gravel under the post first (shovel full or 2) to assist with drainage. Not having drainage is what causes them to rot. Actualy i was told the best thing to use is a packing sand and no concrete at all, that is what they use for fence posts on This Old House. They put some gravel down and then the post, and then pack the special sand all around it and its as good as concrete but no rot and easy replacement down the road.
@Rocketman88002

Dave L, great suggestion! I set railroad ties into the ground for a fence without concrete. I dug a hole about 2 1/2 ft. deep and enough to leave about 4 inches all around the tie. Then poured 3/4 inch gravel down into the hole while moving the tie side to side. When done, you have a gravel packed tie that won't move. I stretched my barbed wire with a come along around the corner posts then stapled it. There was only slight sagging of the wire after over 20 years.

But dude, speaking as a rural carrier, don't ever buy that mailbox. Get a plastic one (eventually the door on a metal one will become difficult to close), and oversized. With e-commerce, you want at least a modest size box to fit in there. People who don't have a porch or other covering will have a box sit on their front porch or driveway and possibly get rained on later in the day before you get home (the PO does not supply bags for the carriers).

Nice to me :)
Wow, sounds like even stoners can do it.

Absolutely positive "they" can.😂
How come none of these videos show you how to mount the actual fucking mailbox? I cant find that anywhere on youtube. You basically showed me how to put a stick in the ground. Thanks alot.
There are many similar projects in Stodoys plans's plans.
Cheap! I’m getting a brick one for my mail box!

Do you really think anyone gives a rat's arse?
Good video, but a tip would be to stop sniffing. Breathe through your mouth.

Why spend all that time and money and put a tiny little mailbox on the post ...get a real Gibraltar XLarge box that holds Amazon packages...times have changed folks
So easy, even a female can do it!!!! 📫 Step 1 - Find this video Step 2 - Forward this video to bae ... tell said bae that he's sleeping on couch until mailbox is installed Step 3 - Profit!
This might be a good video? I’ll never know as I got vertigo trying to watch it! Get a new camera person!
Dude lay off snorting the coke
